The lion thing just reminded me of the old 80's Beauty and the Beast show with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton:

Also odd that aliens called their planet Delta Leonis, having the same Latin root as us for Lion, and they look like lions. Maybe the Romans spread further than we thought smile

I agree, the writing seems lost and a great waste of acting talent. They have all of the ingredients a writer could ask for but just seem to have exhausted their inventory of monsters and I think the whole show format suffers from a bit of fatigue like Top Gear did. The Dr needs a cause or enemy to fight that is bigger than a season or two, something that he can't beat and can, at best, escape from for a few seasons that can lurk in the background while he sorts himself out. The lack of any background war or narrative really makes it hard to care episode to episode.

In the last season where Clara and the Dr both lied to each other about Pink/Gallifrey, they should have separated them and had him go off to do something.
The last two episodes weren't great, however I think they were setting up something along the lines of the enemy you are talking about: i.e. an immortal human who is going to keep an eye on the people the Doctor leaves behind, and possibly cause trouble for him at the same time. I wasn't very well written or executed, but I suspect that was what they were trying to get to.

The standard Sci-fi explanation would be that they visited Earth several millennia ago and met the Romans. The Romans named lions after the furry faced aliens.

This wasn't a great episode. The idea of 'Lady Me' deciding to protect us from The Doctor reminds me of Queen Victoria setting up Torchwood to protect us from aliens. I expect this storyline will be the climax of this series. I'm sure it will somehow be the reason we loose Clara.

I have to agree with the previous comments regarding the writing.
And also they dont seem to be able to work out who their target audience actually is anymore....

I mean writing in jokes like

" At least they will remember me as Wellhung !"

confused Don't all children's shows have something in for Adults as they have to watch it with the children?

Well Hung could refer to numerous things, the actual hanging (which would traumatise a child anyway), Meat or game hung until high before cooking, or where your Adult mind took it

Except that it was followed by something along the lines "I see a few of you ladies already know that, though!"

If you're going to drop in innuendo, at least have the sense to leave it at that...

Moffat may have been a reasonable writer when he was under the editorial control of someone else, but as show-runner it now appears that whatever ste he comes up with gets on the screen with no-one to tell him it's ste frown

Far too much of the "hey, wouldn't it be cool if we did this...." and not enough of the "it may seem cool to you but is actually poor drama/a huge plot hole/totally impossible/too contrived ( delete as applicable ) so shouldn't go ahead"

That story in the last series where the moon's mass became more concentrated ( it was some space beasties egg ) and altered the tides is a good example of all the above reasons

FFS guys, you're picking at nothing here. You'd not pick at the innuendeo in Toy Story, Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Spongebob Squarepants, The Lion King, Cinderella? And Doctor Who is aimed at kids old enough to watch the Simpsons!

It's as subtle as The Simpsons; which is the same age group & I see no complaints here about their humour being too close to the bone!

My vote is for Black guardian

or Rassilon
Not the Tim Dalton version
