I cannot seem to engage at all with this incarnation. I had problems with Matt Smith but after a while he grew on me but Peter...no.

And did I hear Kate Stewar say Zee instead of Zed?

I liked that quite a lot actually. The Maisie episode has been the only clunker so far IMO. I tuned out during the Matt Smith years but really like Capaldi.

I think he suffered a shocker of a poorly written first season. I nearly stopped watching after Kill the Moon, and that episode where the trees save the world was even worse! That combined with low fancyability and a later timeslot could hit ratings. I wonder how it's going down in the states?

Loving them this season

There were a few in the 1st season with Peter that were awfully written! But he still shone through

He's fast coming up to be my favourite Doctor & I say that as someone for whom Jon Pertwee was the first (although they must have been repeats laugh I wasn't watching at 3!)

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the plots are STILL pretty st, but the performances of Capaldi and Coleman are strong enough to hold them together.

(And Oliver and Redgrave weren't bad either last night.)

I think his rant this episode was the closest he's got to invoking Malcolm Tucker so far. "You want to be me? You will never be me. You are not even Manchesters top Malcolm Tucker tribute band!" laugh

I actually enjoyed it
I thought that Ms Coleman seemed genuinely dark when she turned to the woman and revealed herself to be a zygon version.
Don't like the specs
Spotted something that I think may be part of the story regarding Claras leaving

Did anyone else find that 'real' Clara was much more attractive than Zygon Clara, but it was impossible to say what the difference was?

Maybe it's because she was in a skimpy vest top for most of the episode?

I thought her hair looked rather attractively ruffled considering she'd spent the best part of a day in a slimy egg-pod thing, too. Maybe she just wakes up looking like that. hehe

Quite a powerful message in the Dr's rant I thought, one that seemed to be particularly pertinent in today's scenario.

It reminded me a little bit of Star Trek TNG where the Utopian federation would use earths violent past as an analogue to whatever disaster the alien race was about to unleash. But more personalised and impassioned than Picard or the 80's would probably have allowed.

I'm actually pleased that such TV still exists- I grew up watching Gerry Anderson reruns and Star Trek TNG and much as I like the dystopian or "realistic" morally ambiguous path which is becoming increasingly the norm, it's actually a little refreshing these days to see a hope for a future that is better than the present- something we've taken for granted until recently- in what is, after all, TV for our kids to watch.

They've somehow got switched, so the real one replaced the deceased Osgood, and the Zygon one is now with the Doctor?

How can the real one change her form, only Zygons can do that.

I thought these were the two best episodes. Great acting from Jennifer as Bonnie and a chance for Capaldi to do what he does best. Good to see Osgood back.

There are definitely those who think far too deeply about the storylines un comparing to real life but Dr Who is not a documentary (just thought I'd clear thst up!) and so really shouldn't link in with real life affairs.

No I think she is perhaps already dead or dying and is in a comatose state replaying memories
I dunno just a hunch. The set up last nights wasn't that different to the 1st ever encounter with her in that Dalek thing

I enjoy watching it still, but I watch it when I have a moment as it's saved on the box.

Capaldi is good in an intriguing way, but I don't love his Doctor. I thought Matt smith was great but for me, recent DW peaked with David Tennant and Rose. They were brilliant.

Odd bit of dialogue at the end.

Clara: So you must’ve thought I was dead?
Doctor: Yep.
Clara: So how was that?
Doctor: Longest month of my life.
Clara: Could only have been five minutes.
Doctor: (BEAT) I’ll be the judge of time.

Yeah that has to be some hint of her demise. I'd suggest she's maybe dying in some way (maybe the Dr/Missy killed her in Ep 1?) and living at an accelerated rate without realising it, but that wouldn't tie in with her being able to be captured by the zygons.

I wonder who they can replace hew with.

In the series finale I expect we'll find out that he was busy doing some timey wimey stuff during the course of this story.
I won't try and guess what it was.
