Well I for one have not watched this yet and am debating whether to bother. I am a committed and well respected Whovian (I have written several well received fan fiction stories). My views count more than a casual viewers.
The issue to me that what is on screen has been overshadowed by Capaldi's off screen comments about him perhaps leaving. Of course an actor in a normal drama can do this. But this is not normal drama, it's Doctor Who and being the Doctor is an enormous responsibility.
Quite frankly he should have the decision taken away from him and he should be sacked.

Quite the ego you seem to have. Writing fanfic doesn't make you any better, or make your opinion greater than anyone elses, casual viewer or not. Tonight's show was entertaining, but not one of the best christmas ones for me. The writing eas better than most of the series, and both Capaldi and Kingston seemed to be having fun. If they are, the audience sees it and is happy.

Actors leave shows all the time, and comments from an actor need to be taken into context with the conversation. I for one have not heard anything reported that he is contemplating such a move, but, i would imagine he does think about it one day.

It was all over MSN a day or so ago
I came across it whilst searching for a cage for the parrot.
The parrot refers to some of the tone of some previous "I know best" posts.

People like you shouldn't be allowed to watch programmes such as this.
You won't understand the rich textures that are used in the character backgrounds. It will all go over your head.
That's why they have programmes like X factor you can get involved and vote for the winner.
When I successfully managed to explain in my story " Dalekanium, Yesterday, Today and Forever " just why the Paradigm Daleks were able to coexist with the bronzed daleks I received many e mails thanking me for the story.
I think that some of them may even have been from BBC people themselves.
Honest smile

I quite like this idea that people are either entitled or not to view a television program. I'm not sure how one would qualify. Perhaps you could devise an aptitude test.

I'm a big DW fan, but don't like the current series, PC does not do it for me. Not seen the Christmas Special yet. I need to watch it over the next day or two, before it goes underground

Ali, unless you can demonstrate a certain level of emotional maturity, you shouldn't have been watching.

Is it possible to get hold of a couple of parrots on boxing day?

First one I've not really enjoyed all year. Hard to pin-point why, but I feel it occasionally fell on the wrong side of bad-taste and felt inappropriate for 5:15pm.

I won't be letting my seven year old watch it.

Time to climb out of your own backside and look at the real world. Stop being a pompous arrogant tt. My wife is a well respected FanFiction writer too (one of her stories has had 20+ million reads alone) yet she would never be so arrogant as to think that only SHE has the right to comment about the subject matter. Perhaps you should consider acting the same way?

No idea but from the completely rubbish christmas presents thread I can supply 2 really ste elephant figures in lieu. smile
I am just writing up my notes for my next story, "The Doctor in the loo"
In it the companionless Doctor debates with the ghost of Adric whether it is better to go to the lavatory and then wash his hands after having a leak or whether he should just go back in time so his bladder doesn't fill up in the first place.

Ive worked on the fx of Dr Who in my time, does that make me more special than you and make my opinion better than everyone else ? no it doesnt. stop trying to be an elitist its not working. The show is for anyone who cares to watch and everyone has differing opinions, deal with it. I thought a lot of this season was utter rubbish, due mainly to bad writing. It seems to be slowly getting there now though.

It hasn't been the best season by a long way.

But Capaldi is doing the best with what he is given.

As the ratings have improved in the US. Auntie may spend a bit more care for next season.

Watched and thought it was drivel.

From the respected audience this thread attracts, what's the plan for Clara and Me now they have their own TARDIS?

Probably slipped into the parallel universe that his daughter still occupies

For the record I enjoyed the special albeit through a slightly bizzare mix of beheadings and what might be the final appearance of River Song.

I thought the same regarding the diner tardis and have often wondered what the score was with his daughter who was floating about , by the way this is me working on a well known thing wink
