New companion is 'Bill', played by Pearl Mackie (yes that's Bill as a girls name). Going by the t shirt and denim, she's from the 1980s. http://www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-who/40144/docto...

Nonsense he is way too old to be doing that sort of thing and there would be questions asked.
She however does look like a kids TV presenter. That means that will she be able to be engage with the kids. I think its called being a hipster or something similar.
Despite the fact that I think that in the last series Capaldi won it back ( also helped by the last 2 episodes of his first series) I still think it was an error to cast him after Matt Smith.
Then again I am not sure he will do more than one more series which is fair enough anyway.

Anyone seen what the viewing figures are like Smith Vs Capaldi? Interested in the demographic too.

Now I'm even more depressed, she was ace. No wait, that was someone else. The new girl looks awfully plain; sorry if this makes me shallow but some nice totty makes the programme more bearable.
She was Perpugilliam (Peri) Brown.

I wish Doctor Who would stop this celebrity appearance crap.

At what point do celebs become actors, and vice versa?
Lucas has acted in a few things after all

Interestingly they have just released the old Patrick Troughton Power Of The Daleks thing as a cartoon

I do like a Patrick Troughton story, but it's just not the same frown. Works with covering the odd missing episode (e.g. The Invasion) but I'm not so keen on a whole serial. Will still watch at some point no doubt!

Only a week to go but I'm not getting as excited as I normally would be by now & I'm not sure if it's because Jenna Coleman has gone or because there's been no series this year.

I've got the crisps, chocolate & twiglets in ready for "Dr Who night" but it's just not the same this year. getmecoat

It might be because the trailer is looking worryingly like the Paul McGann thing!

Hopefully the similarities are superficial...

^^ Oh yeah I remember that being less than good.

It's only my opinion but I think there's a lot riding on the success of this Christmas episode concerning the future of the programme.

Why would the future be decided on the basis of this Christmas episode and not the whole new series which they've been filming since the summer? confused
