Exactly what I was thinking at the time!

Yes I agree it was all a bit daft, but par for the course for a Christmas episode I suppose.

Anyway I'd watch anything with the luscious Millie in it.

A missed opportunity in my opinion.

The Goblins could have been much more menacing and expanded into a much more sinister villain.

WTF ! At one point I thought I was watching Dr Who the musical.

The shoehorning of the PC boxes was more subtle but still the boxes were ticked.

If the Dr had gone back in time to then Ruby was left at the church, why didn't he find out who the mother was?
I assume it will be a few episodes in tot he new series before we are told that it's Anita Dobson?

Killing Jabba was out of character for the Dr.

Can we PLEASE stop with all the running around business?

I guess we will be able to form a better opinion in May 24
I'll be absolutely shocked if it isn't

Was that a MK2 Grenada parked behind the white Škoda near the end of the episode when Ruby was coming out of the TARDIS? Haven't seen one of those in decades

For a Christmas special it was dire.

Well, Christmas Dr Whos are usually a little weird, but I think this was probably about the worst I've seen. The story line was terrible, the characters were terrible the introduction of the new companion was err terrible, and singing on Dr Who for God's sake? - terrible.

Ive been a fan since I used to hide behind the sofa as a kid, so I really hope they manage to pull this one back and give Ncuti a chance to be a good Dr without all the baggage the Beeb have hung round his neck.

Ten minutes in and I’ve spotted a huge error.

No, not the single biggest box-ticking taxi ride, but the huge continuity blunder.

The Dr tells the copper, that’s my transport over there, and points at Tardis.
Cut to view from the opposite angle and the Tardis it out of site round a corner, ie invisible from the Dr / Copper POV

Downhill from there plot wise.

A series with a good actor totally hamstrung by awful plot.
I’ve seen this one.

It was actually very good and the lyrics which are on the youtube cut of that scene are the stuff that would scare some kids stless.

Or even Granada. yes

I wonder if it has some obscure significance.

Kids TV monster? Meh. Plot? Equally meh, but for kids' telly at Christmas absolutely fine. The musical number was odd, but I'm happy to accept it in a Christmas special. Kinda disappointed by some of the animation, given the Disney link.

Ncuti is perfect. So long as he is allowed to be his own character, it'll be absolutely fine. It did feel like the Dr's character was bouncing around all over the place for a time in this episode though. However I did have a big problem with the sound mix levels. Maybe it was just my TV and less than perfect ears, but at times the lead actors' voices were considerably lower than the music levels and I really struggled to hear what was happening. Not just once or twice, but throughout the show. Possibly fine in 5.1 surround, but struggling in stereo.

Have to say she’s rather bouncy in the right places. I’ll be watching the next series!

She looked a lot different from when she was in Corrie.

I remember watching Dr Who as a kid, so I’ve always been used to the stereotypical version and I remember at the time being a little unsure of Jodie Whittaker. But - I really enjoyed her in the role. I enjoyed the brief transition from her to Tennant and then Ncuti.

My initial impression of Ncuti is that he really suits the role - he’s got that nervous energy and erratic style that I think will make him a very good Doctor.

Twas a good, fun Dr. Who Christmas Special. The only jarring thing (which a few have picked up on) was The Doctor killing the Goblin King, that is a departure from the usual behaviour of The Doctor

Otherwise all good, I hope that the series won't be littered with song and dance routines though

I quite enjoyed the song and dance routine biglaugh

I have a feeling this version of the doctor might not be as nicey nice as they've been making out (hope).
Either way I think he'll be a good doctor.

My issue with the story line is that I don’t get how Davina had to be saved at the end when the Goblin King had already been killed at the church. Surely at baby Ruby was there at that point then the ‘bad luck’ would have been stopped at that point? Further on from that the ceiling cracks were still there, which seems odd because the goblins had been killed 20years ish earlier?
