Moffat is now saying that the Matt Smiths Doctor is the Last or 13th Doctor. Adding John Hurt and the revelation that the now 11th Doctor used a regeneration to revive himself in "Stolen Earth" making him the 11th and 12th regeneration, it appears the next Doctor is going to have to find some "new regenerations" or Die. There is a precedent as the Master was given more by the "High Council". Should make for an interesting Christmas Special.
How can that be?Original Doctor...
(1) William Hartnell
1st Regeneration into...
(2) Patrick Troughton
2nd Regeneration into...
(3) Jon Pertwee
3rd Regeneration into...
(4) Tom Baker
4th Regeneration into...
(5) Peter Davison
5th Regeneration into...
(6) Colin Baker
6th Regeneration into...
(7) Sylvester McCoy
7th Regeneration into...
(8) Paul McCann
8th Regeneration into...
(9) John Hurt
9th Regeneration into...
(10) Christopher Eccleston
10th Regeneration into...
(11) David Tennant
11th Regeneration into...
(12) Matt Smith
12th Regeneration into...
(13) Peter Capaldi
So, according to canon, he can have 12 regenerations (which is 13 Doctors in total) ergo Capaldi can't regenerate anyway! And thats before Moffat adds another regeneration into the mix with the 11th doctor using an additional regeneration to revive himself.
Indeed, if the 11th did use up 2 regens that Capaldi shouldn't be here at all.
I need a lie down.

I love how people take it so seriously and try to explain it
Its a kids TV program about a time travelling alien! Its not meant to be real!
Real, no. But it ought to be consistent. Its a kids TV program about a time travelling alien! Its not meant to be real!
Even kids like things to flow logically.

Well there ought to be an attempt at consistency for sure and by-and-large they acheive that. You need to be able to answer your kid when he turns to you asks you "why" something has happened that seems on the face of it to not make sense.

It's usually me asking the kid questions. Here's one. When does the new series start?Even kids like things to flow logically.

He chose the current girl instead of Emer. I believe this was because Emer is almost six feet tall and Smith felt a bit intimidated by her.
Whereas he didn't feel at all intimidated by Karen Gillan who is 5 feet 11 inches tall?If your going to participate in geek threads Blib then Do your homework! We Whovians can spot an imposter a mile away.

Possible Christmas Special 'Doctor Transformation' Outline Plot
It's lifted from The Sun so perhaps I'll reserve judgement but if you don't want to hear about the possible circumstances surrounding Matt Smith's transformation into Peter Capaldi's Doctor then don't click on the Spoiler button below!
The plot will supposedly show the Doctor fighting a 300 year war against the Weeping Angels, Daleks, Sontarans, and Cybermen. The Doctor will grow old and lose a leg to the Weeping Angels, before finally regenerating. Clara will spend most of the episode trapped inside the TARDIS so that she doesn't age, and she'll only leave the TARDIS when the Doctor needs her...
