Don't want to have to wait until next year for the next series though frown

I've decided from this though, that I really like David Tennant as an actor.
David Tenant conveys conviction and reality in his acting. He is indeed a very fine actor. Well supported by excellent casting throughout.

I've never liked David Tennant, but I've changed my opinion of him now.

Well done ITV. Broadchurch was excellent.

Other than, would you squash a slug into your carpet in a house you cared about, think it was symbolic to show she couldn't return to the house again, gone from happy family home, to somewhere she doesn't want to be.
Cheers. Makes sense, although I thought it might be some kind of twist, like she was about to discover a hidden lettuce by following a trail of slugs that would incriminate someone else. I think I've watched too much CSI...

Was a good final episode, I suspected the husband simply because everybody else in the show had had the finger pointed squarely at them except him.

Was a well acted, emotional finale.

Still couldn't work out the psychic telecoms engineer though.

Loved it. Really tore me apart at the end - Olivia Coleman was brilliant.

Liked the slyness of Tenant's character getting the boy in for questioning as a cover to get the bloke's shoe size.

And the "how could you not know" line - boom.

Brilliant stuff.

She's an excellent actress. She's superb in Tyrannosaur. Not a pleasant film though.

It's been an amazingly good show, so much so, I sent ITV an email saying thanks for commissioning it and received a nice reply!

However am I the only one that gets completely distracted from the story line every now and again...

...
Looks very like Helen Baxendale...

The problem is, they've written in so many red herrings and unanswered questions, that they can't possibly answer them all in a 1 hour finale episode.

grumpy
So I'll start with:

Why did Pauline Quirke threaten to have the local news reporter lady raped?
What was the purpose of the burning boat?
What was the purpose of the boat in the harbour which had the boys blood on it?
Why did the priest touch the boys knee at the wake?
Why did Olivia Colman not manage to perfect the local accent by the end of filming?

Might sound close to you, but Daaaarset and Naaarth Zummmerset have different accents and, of course, filming was split between the two locations.

Still a surprise that Tennant does a passable Scotlandshire accent away from Dr Who!! hehe

Also

- Will Mellor's woo woo stuff, no actual impact in the big scheme of things?
- Old Jack, Danny seen arguing with the postman?

I thought to allow the wife of the accused and father of the victim to have access to the prisoner very odd, can see why to allow them to have their say, and the fact that it was the policewoman's wife too obvious in the end and a bit lame he essentially gave himself up.

Good. Any more? (keep them coming)

I suspect the writers have forgotten half of the red-herrings they included and so I'll send them the link to this thread to remind them what they need to inlclude in series 2. hehe

  1. Because she was desperately trying to cover up her past from getting out
  2. To try and destroy the forensic evidence
  3. Just a bit of misdirection to ensure the father got investigated extensively allowing the affair with the aussie subplot to go ahead
  4. More misdirection - playing on the great british public's fear of "pedos" to get us all thinking it was the priest. Great bit of writing IMO
  5. God knows, she's a great actress but maybe accents aren't her thing?
HTH biggrin

Well it's been exposed so I can now say I thought it was a very disappointing finale.

I predicted it was him week two. Basic Miss Marple make it the least likely person... Predictable ending which rather spoilt the seemingly clever build up.

Sorry, but it ended up a wash out for me and, whilst I don't mind Tennant in most things I found him rather annoying in this...

At least there probably won't be a sequel.... In the states they'd reunite them to solve another crime and it would his brother or something...
