Doubt I'll continue; I got fed up with all those over-dramatic performances, I hated the music,
I found much of the camerawork distracting and I suspect that the way the plot is going I'll not care one jot about anybody.

We saw the first one but it was ages ago and they have that many bloody adverts we are struggling to understand what's going on on !
They seem to be following Sky's breif on that.
Trouble is, they know they are going to get masses of viewers (at least initially) so can presumably hike the rates accordingly.

Fascinating that views are so polarised.

I suspended disbelief in a lot of items - including the local geography, apparent timing mismatches, legal bits - that should grate and got on with trying to wonder what sorts of stories are going to unfold.

Had me hooked. Some good performances.... and comic tming.

Haven't seen the first series so utterly confused about what was happening in last night's episode. Couple of things stood out: does everyone in Dorset have a Bristolian accent and knowing some of the locations is an unfortunate distraction from the plot - the court scene was filmed at the Forum at Exeter University where we've done quite a bit of work of late, I found myself looking around the background rather than concentrating on the story.

Why was Olivia Colemans character (previously a CID Detective Sergent) in a PC uniform doing traffic duties at the start of the programme?

Do many detectives house witnesses in rented accommodation for SEVEN months+ ?

Putting aside the numerous leaps of faith, the cast is trying valiantly to keep me entertained (that vicar is dodgy) and guessing for another few weeks.

Could still be good...but I'm keeping my hopes in check.

She's moved to Devon so I assume taken a different job.

I didn't know there was to be a second series, in fact I had never heard of Broadchurch until a few nights ago when I stumbled upon it on NetFlix. .

I really enjoyed it. Sure you can pick fault with it, but you could with the first series too. This just seemed like more of the same, which is no bad thing.

I thought it was good, nice twist at the beginning. Wish there were less adverts

I've been trying very hard to like this continuation but, the melodramatic crap seems to be oozing out of every little crevice - it's just overdone. Now we have the confession being disallowed because his wife gave him a kicking after he admitted to the murder. I'm out!

Still enjoying it. Not sure what others, who don't like it, are now expecting.

Since you start to get further investment in the characters, all based around how everyone else is affected by a "simple" murder case, it can't really go anywhere else but put each in the spotlight. I agree there's some flaws in the writing, although many of the actors are putting in powerful stuff they're not all faultless, and the scenery tends to steal the show. But don't you just want to know what further secrets and revelations are coming out?

For me it has become over-dramatic and washed the believe-ability away with the tide. A great shame because the first series was excellent.

I might just tune in to the last episode to see whats what. smile

Tonights episode was just gash - the lesbian looking lawyer and the old bint are both totally non-believable, and although they're head and shoulders the worst bit of the new series, the general courtcase storyline makes the Bill look like a Grisham novel.

I'll keep watching it because my wife wants to watch it together - but next week I'll simply be there as a husband, rather than keen viewer.

I'm quite enjoying it - not as much as the first series, but it's still good.

The only thing that's really bugging me is the contriving of situations in which Beth can scream at Ellie - the exhumation in broad daylight for one. Oh, and the fact that Beth can't see Ellie at all without turning into a raging, foaming lunatic. She said she was angry in the first series, but she didn't go round screaming at people.

And last night's cliffhanger could be seen coming a mile off - but why shouldn't Ellie go back to her house if she wants to? It's her house! But if Beth hadn't turned up, Lee Ashworth wouldn't have been able to vanish with his missus I suppose.

Oh well, I'm going to keep watching - even if I didn't like it, I'd have to keep going now because I can't bear not knowing what happens in the end. biggrin

I too know it's unbelievable, because the old bint actually died in Dexter!

Joking aside, we did groan an awful lot as the contrived situations came thick and fast...Lazy scriptwriting?
