Let me tell you something: The Army doesn't want them.
True enough I suppose. But then I don't care if it's the real army or a made up pretend army. Anything to get the scrotes out of their surroundings for a year or so. Something to break the cycle.

Get them conscripted to an organisation doing public works. Have it staffed by ex-military and give them the same discipline powers as the army. Ship them overseas to do aid work.

But.. I dream. laugh

The logic for buying the £2500 tv, for those that missed it, was:

"We're having to pay for this over 2 years. We're not like those working class families (sic?) that got 2 grand a week coming in. We are having to pay for this over 2 years."

2 grand a week he said. This guy is fantastically far away from reality. 2 grand a week??? Ok then.... Maybe for less than 1% of the population?

I suspect that, for this guy, getting some experience, having a job and living with a working family, it would give this guy a realistic perspective and rid him of that arrogance. He doesnt know the reality of working life.

Just like watching this show has given some of us a perspective on a dismal life on drugs frown.

I don't think he was being entirely serious with that 2 bags a week comment?

There is a serious point in there though. That Brighthouse place take on high risk punters in return for usurious amounts of interest, the elctric & gas were on the dongle meter things - that's the most expensive way of buying it.

Fact is if you're skint, you often are kept there through what's open to you as much as your own fecklessness.

Most people, who are living on tiny incomes or on benefits, that get into debt fall behind with utility bills or rent/council tax payments. They keep themselves in fags and booze, have topped up mobile phones and manage to keep up with bright house repayments.

Lots of them use wonga etc to keep their finances running.

There is a disconnection between the things most of us who work need and the things these people need. I could happily live without a TV and the one we paid £350 for 4 years ago is still doing its job.

However I plan to buy a container full and flog them to dheads using this model www.brighthouse.co.uk/televisions/lg-full-hd-47-le...

Funny you should say that. Something along those lines was mentioned to me in a meeting a couple of weeks ago.....

My TV cost 350 quid, its a 42" HD flat screen, that is perfectly adequate for my needs. I don't smoke/drink, can't afford a holiday or a fancy car. I work and pay all my bills/household expenses. I've never been unemployed and would die a death if I ever lost my job!

Two things about that statement were very interesting and worrying in equal measure. Firstly he said not like those working class families. So does that mean he classes himself as lower/under class?

Secondly, I hoped he had made a mistake when he said 2 grand a week, sadly I don't think it was and he really did mean it. This was kind of reinforced, when he said he used to earn £1400 a week in the steel mill by working every hour he could, and he would need to earn £500-600 a week!

Assume he is taking take home pay, that means he want somebody to pay him ~£34k-42k. These people really are clueless, they don't understand that the vast majority of the country live on less than that, unless your on benefits it seems, and the upper end of that band would put you in to the top ten percent of the whole country. Clown.

I suspect he mis-spoke and really means what we think of as 'middle class'.

We need a reality show where people like the Mum & Dad from this show live with a 'middle class' family who work hard, keep the house clean, don't use the F word all the time.

If you are "interested" in this kind of programme there is another one shown on I think BBC3 or BBC 4 called "People Like Us" set in some area near to Manchester.
Some in there are just as bad some better.
