Here we go... it's a 'let's bash the less fortunate again' thread.
Those in the office shared similar opinions until I reminded them that it's Christmas time.
There's no need to be afraid to help these people, just help them to remove those POLICE shields from the windows, let in the light and banish shade.
Then, in our world of plenty, you to can spread a smile of joy, maybe even throw your arms around their world at Christmastime.
Nuff said.

I have no problem with helping those that need it. But there is a consistency about the people on these types of programs, it's never their fault...
I can't believe that is all down to selective editing, I think a large portion of these people expect people to give them everything, and they wouldn't know a hard days work if it slap them in the face.

I pondered this last night and was a little surprised to read some of the posts on here (well maybe not it is PH after all!).
I completely get that the ‘world owes me a living’ lot should be frog marched into work/self-sustainability and come out of cloud fg cuckoo land from where they reside.
But then I look at the wider causes of the current problem that affects so many areas nowadays; all throughout the episode I watch last night was reference to the good old days when fishing was the big thing and was all anyone really did for a living. We have the same down the road in Fleetwood. For a whole community to pretty much lose a complete industry that sustained it for decades and try to adjust and keep everyone working/out of poverty is never going to happen. Sure these things can be seen coming but how do you transform the skillset of thousands of people AND find them all new jobs? It just won’t happen.
Then as the work ebbs away, there’ll be a fight for the very finite amount of jobs available and subsequently you have a load of unskilled people on the dole. Their kids follow suit and aside from the rare few who escape and make a career for themselves, a whole new generation of what we like to call feckless and oxygen thieving are born.
Rinse repeat

Love triangle row led to man being pushed in front of car
ANGRY Christopher Hanslip violently shoved a man into the path of an oncoming car after a secret love triangle erupted in bitterness.
The victim was lucky he was not killed or seriously injured after the horrific incident, a court heard.
Hanslip pushed the man into the path of the car with such force that he was thrown onto the bonnet – and his head hit the windscreen so hard that the glass cracked.
Hanslip, 30, of Yarborough Road, Keelby, admitted attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on Craig Robinson with intent on October 12.
Charlene Langton, 23, of the YMCA hostel, Grimsby, admitted assaulting him.

While Grimsby may not be the nicest place in the world, this programme certainly does its best to show it in the worst possible light.I can't believe that is all down to selective editing, I think a large portion of these people expect people to give them everything, and they wouldn't know a hard days work if it slap them in the face.
I left in 1988 and go back very infrequently now just to see family, but when I left the area there seemed to be no shortage of work. The fishing industry was all but dead then (and had been for some time thanks to Mr. Crosland)but there was plenty of work in Food, Petro Chemical industry, Engineering and Construction. Those that wanted work would find it no problem - but there was those that couldn't adjust to the difference in working hours and the difference in pay that they enjoyed in the Fishing Industry. Ex-Fisherman were plentiful and those that I knew off predominantly didn't want to try to change career path...And so the rot started
Programmes like this will always try and paint this picture in the name of entertainment. However, I can assure you that the people portrayed in this show only make up a very very small percentage of the local population. The larger percentage are hard working law abiding citizens. I doubt this is any different to Gillingham, Glasgow or Guildford

Ex-Cleethorpes myself. Looking forward to watching it on +1 later to help remind me of what I've missed since 1988
Scartho here. And no, your not missing a thing!Live in the Nunny, for my sins! HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT!!!! Cannot wait to rid myself of my house and buy somewhere nicer, hopefully local but not within the confines of Grimbo! No idea why I bought within there, bar wanting a cheap 3bed semi and I didn't know the area (from Derby orginally)

They were looking at the Nunny first to film this weren't they? Not sure you'd be able to walk around with a TV camera for too long without being relieved of it though!Live in the Nunny, for my sins! As for there being no jobs, there are jobs available, not easy or well paid, but there's jobs there for those who want them.
There are actually quite a few people on the Nunny that actually earn a decent wedge, some offshore oil rig workers, quite a few work at Tata Steel in scunny, even have a norwegian supply ship's captain. They have lived and grown up in the Nunny, so feel no reason to leave. Unfortunately, there's the fair share of people who seem to only live buying fags, cheap booze and takeout and 'socialise' in their front gardens. Some also seem to enjoy popping kids out just to move up the housing ladder while causing huge neighboorhood grief to everyone else.
I'm lucky that my street is fairly quiet. 6yrs ago though, it was a battleground (see above reasons).

Watching the bit at the Shalom community centre, you can see how these kids are feral little tts. Bred by scum, raised to be scum.
I couldn't help but laugh at the scumbag kid on a tag, when he was getting knocked back for jobs for having a tag on, and he said "Jus' because I've got a tag on, don't mean I'm a straight up fug". I think he meant "fug" but his inability to pronounce the word properly gave it a hilarious double meaning. A "fug" indeed.
