Having read the book many times I'm very much looking forward to it, I only hope they get the battle room right and include the brother and sister back on earth.

Just finished the book for the second time. I cannot see how they will get the film right but i really hope they do, it has the potential to be astounding (it won't be, they will dull down the pshycological torture/torment and the brutality of 11yo soldiers) but it could still be very good.

I didn't know it was a book, but I saw the film trailer a couple of weeks ago and on its own merits it looks absolutely awful.

The comic book series is actually rather good as well, would highly recommend it.

Excellent book, therefore it'll be a crap film. I've never seen a good film of a good book, it doesn't appear possible.

One of my all time favourite books as a young-un. I hope they do it justice.

Particularly the fact that he doesn't know he's actually fighting the war - from the trailer it seems that they are talking about it up front, but this is hopefully just misdirection in the editing.

Yeah, that was my impression from the trailer. I was re-reading the book to check that I hadn't remembered incorrectly.

There are dozens, of course. Books and films are different to the extent that they're not comparable. Does anyone ever watch the 10 O'Clock News and say "Hmm. This isn't as good as when I read it in the newspaper earlier"?

Reading some of the stuff online it appears that they've tweaked the concept slightly in that Ender still doesn't know it's real but the audience does.

Hmmm, well we'll have to see. Seems a shame to waste a good surprise at the end, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Great book and it is filmable in its length. Let us hope they do it justice.

I'll add to that:

Fight Club
Harry Potter (I liked the movies, grew up with them)
The Godfather
Jurassic Park (maybe flawed, didn't age too well, but very enjoyable in my book)
American Psycho
The Shining
Silence Of The Lambs

As for Ender's game, the books are amazing and I'm still reading them. My wife and I are hooked, she's already on the "shadow saga", while I'm on book 3 (have to make some more time to read the books).
I hope they can make it amazing, not just a "Starship Troopers" kind of movie. Ender's Game was a psychological drama, but I'm afraid that won't sell too many tickets.
We're in dire need of some more "intelligent" blockbusters. While I enjoyed the likes of "Pacific Rim", I hope they can give Ender's Game the attention it deserves rather than make it extremely forgettable.

It's on my watchlist without a doubt, but seeing the treatment they gave Game Of Thrones & LOTR (both fantasy), I believe it can be done.

The later books are even heavier and deal with big sociological and ethical dilemma's, but one at the time. I just hope it takes after LOTR rather than, for example, Percy Jackson.

I watched this last night via Netflix. I had read a bit about it when it came out - but haven't read the book.
I really enjoyed it. It was quite deep and thought provoking, particularly as you watch Harrison Ford's character reveal his ruthlessness bit by bit.
