The Returned (Les Revenants) - C4 21:00
Discussion
Supernatural French thriller starts tonight on Channel 4.
Definitely worth a watch, even if you're one of those people who usually "doesn't do subtitles". One of the most beautifully shot dramas I've seen in a long time, and a little different from the normal Sunday night fare.
Well acted, beautiful scenery, chilling storyline and music by Mogwai. Excellent.

You might be thinking of the film that the TV series is based on?
I'm pretty sure it was a series, because I remember thinking 'this is crap' and not watching any more.Tonight's was good though. Obviously the waitress, the old geezer and the woman he tied to the bed will all come back to life.
And just to get back to being a PHer, did anyone else notice how, in the first couple of minutes, the bus had two different registration numbers, and neither were in circulation when the accident happened?

Hmm... interesting. Was 'Victor' the cause of the first accident then? The woman the old fella tied to the bed was his wife, from when he was a younger man, wasn't she? And why wasn't her body in the house when the fire brigade were investigating?Tonight's was good though. Anyways, was it just me that thought there seemed to be almost as much advert as programme? I had it being recorded ahead of me so was able to fast forward through all the adverts until I caught up at the last set. It just seemed to be about 5 mins between each need to fast forward.
I remember bits of the 4400 - Flashforward was reminiscent of some of it, too.
Enjoyed The Returned - I like the sense that absolutely nothing, including every detail of the set dressing in every shot, is there by chance.
Repeated resurrections driven by ghosts from a village drowned when the dam went in, I reckon...

Don't watch this whilst p155ed as you will keep forgetting to read the sub-titles and believe that you can understand French. Luckily I recorded it so will be watching it again sober
I can speak French. Anyone else notice it's filmed in Annecy? Well, Talloires or Doussard more like. You can see the Dents de Lanfon in the opening scenes.
