Yep, he's still a creepy kid. I did think he was a bit older though.

Series 2 started as mystifyingly as series 1 ended and isn't making a lot of sense so far!

Compelling viewing, though, if only to try to remember what happened in the first series.

I couldn't find the French series 1 so reluctantly watch the US Netflix remake. I quite enjoyed it really. Has anyone watched both to compare them?

Just watched it, my thoughts exactly! The last episode of series 1 could have been shown beforehand or at least a Keifer Sutherland style 'Previously on 24' voiceover synopsis to try and help us work out who was who and what the hell is going on! Will stick with it, though I hope it doesn't go the same way as 'Fortitude'.

Are there any webpages with a synopsis of the first series?

This is a good reminder of the last episode of Series 1. I think all the other episodes are on there too.

I watched series 1 on DVD in the past few weeks, which really helped for continuity. I thought this Friday's episode was good and I'm looking forward to more, despite some reviews in France not being great and viewing figures apparently dropping sharply over there.

We are quite enjoying watching series 2, but it does now seem that anything can, and does, happen and it doesn't really hang together in any sort of coherent way.....

I quite like trying to identify the locations too.

^+1 I'm still enjoying it somehow! Any body care to guess what the hell is going on and how it will be resolved? Is that giant sink hole the key? Tune in next week to be even more perplexedconfused

My Mrs seems to be perpetually confused by it. I affect an air of exasperation at her for not being able to follow it, while secretly being equally mystified.

So the final episode

So it was Victor all along, after he was murdered he returned to his surviving father and they lived together for the next 35 years in secret until his father had a fall at home, Victor thinking his father was dead wanted him to come back as he had done, only he made everyone come back instead. His father not dead lived on a while longer in a coma in the hospital.

However, it doesn't explain the holes in the ground under the dam, the wrinkly man in the hole, where everyone went, why there was a crazy team of people going around killing everyone and then themselves or even how Victor was able to bring himself and everyone back in the first place.

Well that's France for you. Here, have an ice cream.

This series sort of fell off my radar. Read your post. I'll try and watch the 2nd series when it is repeated.
I've forgotten who
Victor is. I hope the Yank one is a tad more....satisfying.

Yes, pretty much. It was tied up a bit more neatly than I had expected, but there were still many unanswered questions.

I suspect that many of the sub-plots were begun without a clear idea of where they were heading.

It was actually quite compelling, if not actually totally enjoyable, to watch though.

I quite enjoyed the first series. It was different, and reminded me of French summer holidays as it was always sunny so I didn't mind just taking it in.
The second series was grey and depressing and I had even less idea what was going on. I also hated the ending. I cant even be bothered to try and work out what it all means.

THe Yank series seems more coherent....after saying that, it's not ended yet, and US mystical (if it is indeed even mystical) series have 50/50 track record on decent endings.

Oh I forgot one, if Victor set the wheel in motion to bring everyone back in that moment he was kneeling over his dad in the kitchen why did he appear in front of Camille's bus making it crash in episode 1? Did he do that before his dad collapsed, or after?

I agree with much of that. I enjoyed trying to spot the Annecy area locations too.

I liked the ending, I thought it gave enough answers, but also left plenty to the imagination. But then I don't like having endings spelled out in front of me (in case it's not the ending I want!).

Yes there are plenty of questions left unanswered, but that's been the way through the whole series, and you can come up with your own theories. You are left feeling just like the residents of Annecy would be - what the fk is going on?!

It's one of my favourite series in recent years, although I would probably agree the first series is better than the second.
