for C5 to put adverts in every 10 minutes
Hmm you`re right, bloody adverts every 10 mins. I watched this as another PHer had mentioned it (yes you James) I thought it was only average, I did`nt make much to any of the cast, well maybe the redhead, I don`t watch much telly anyway but perhaps I`ll give it another watch next week and hope it improves.

Don't forget the Dark Tower books. Now there is a bks up ending for a SK series of books!
I think he had written himself into a corner by that point and didn't know how else to end it.

It did sort of make sense, and the ending leaves it open to the interpretation that things would be different next time around and so Roland had some prospect of redemption.

In fairness to SK, he DID warn you before the final chapter to leave it there and not to read it....!! biggrin

Back on topic, I'll give this a go but TBH I never really have any expectation when embarking on a TV for film adaptation of any of SK's novels. There have been too many mediocre adaptations in the past and so I tend to just assume the worst. If it's any good, it's a pleasant surprise!

I've read what everyone has written about the ending, and I've actually read the complete synopsis of the book, so I was prepared to give this a wide miss however when it came on the TV last night I noticed Jeff Fahey was the Sheriff so I gave it 5-mins...

... and now I've got the whole series (to date) to watch over the weekend.

It looks OK so far, but you don't have to be Damien Hirst to know a cow isn't made of solid meat. wink

I'll keep watching though.

That could be down to blood smears on the "glass".

I thought the truck cab being completely flattened was more unbelievable.

Are there enough trees/greenery to generate oxygen for the people trapped inside?. If sounds can't get through I doubt air would.

Not if they keep driving round in their 12mpg V8's and running diesel/propane generators. But there was quite a breeze blowing inside the dome at one point - enough to muss up the reporter-woman's hair.

In a later episode, when the fire brigade were spraying water on the dome, one of the characters had his hand up against it and a minute bit of the water got through, so I'm wondering if it lets oxygen through as they are extremely small molecules?

in the book, that is quite key, but for those that unhide spoilers, I'm not going to comment further on whether it can or not biggrin

But, in the book, noise passes through - they can talk with the Soldiers guarding the Dome, and the Visitors on Visitors day - this is quite key to how the book's whole plot unfolds so why I wanted to watch it but really cannot get any feeling for the characters.

It was the Gennys being fired up that made me think of it more so than the big engined cars though no doubt they are as bad as each other.

It would be nice if the series focussed on the technical challenges facing them, but I strongly suspect it will head down the emotional bks route.

Started reading the book a while back but got bored of all the political in fighting stuff halfway through. Might give it another go as I enjoyed this first episode.

On a vaguely similar theme, try Mysterium by Robert Charles Winston. A town, not unlike the one in Dome, suddenly disappears and ends up in an alternative timeline where the Spanish won all the wars 2 or 300 years ago.

So society is around 100 years behind where we are now and ruled with a heavily religious government.

The people are so damn mean, whatever happened to coming together in a crisis.

My prediction is the devil will come out of the ground and tell them they're in hell.

Hmmm... This is quickly going up on my sillyometer. Why didn't the white coat people take any notice of his hand getting wet on the other side of the hose pipes, the curtains going on fire was #326 in the obvious things that happen book. May have to adjust to watching this as a comedy b movie series to carry on with it.

Really struggling to enjoy it, maybe as I just watched the latest breaking bad and cant take jim seriously. Hate what they've done with phil bushey/dodie too :-(

Might just be me but everything seems just a bit too clean, all wearing brand new clothes and none of the interiors look 'lived in'. All like some IKEA showroom, really bothers me!

Oh, and julia shunway saying what the hell constantly..
