Very odd 1st episode bit underwhelming.

Read that the writers have changed hope this isn't the beginning of the end.

I'd been so looking forward to this season, if it continues like this i'll call it a day, thought i'd missed an episode with regards to Abby, i'm sure it will be explained further down the line but if episodes 2 and 3 are the same i'll not stick around to find out!

I read the entire season will follow this format, which is crap. I also don't like it when major plot details are withheld from the viewer whilst main characters are learning of them, eg, the camera pulling back as a doctor tells a character X information then zooms back in once he's finished.

Good to see I'm not the only one a bit underwhelmed by the new series.

Eh? Clear Abby died, she refused cancer treatment in last series, thank god we didn't have the drawn out illness to watch when we just want to see Ray being Ray and fixing film industry fk ups

Last night's episode was hard work, the flashbacks are monotonous and the character Ray Donovan in the previous 4 series doesn't come across as an emotional person, unless i read on here that the series improves i've given up on it!

I thought it a refreshing change from the usual 'no brain' Micky decisions, Ray hitting someone and the kids getting into trouble.

Although the return of the FBI guy makes me think Micky will soon be putting his foot in it somewhere.

This so far is just sentimental nonsense and definitely in need of the old writing back

Yeah, I’m quite surprised how bad this series has been so far, however, I think I’ve only seen the first two episodes.

I can’t see it changing much TBH! It’s a completely different style of writing which presumably has already continued throughout the series.

It’s like an alternative history Ray Donovan. All this sentimentality never existed before. The actors are the same but they now seem to be playing completely different characters.

2nd episode a bit better than the 1st but just needs to get back to what he does.

Not liking the new series at all. First 2 episodes have been dull, how long can you drag out the story that she died.

Doesn't bode well, you would think that for a show heading into its 5th season the season openers would be designed to grab you and keep the audience and the first 2 are doing the opposite.

I'll stick with it as there isn't much else on at the mo.

We're on season 5 and the spoiler rules only apply until the episode has aired - if you're on S4, it's up to you to avoid spoilering yourself...
