How to get a council house.

In the interview with the council chappy banging on about lack of money and choice...anyone else spot what looks like a Herman Miller Mirra chair in the background ? £600 a pop. I suppose they are 50% cheaper than the Aeron model.
Yup I noticed the chair too. Disgraceful....money money money. Its all about the money as he kept saying. These fukwits moaning about bedroom tax. Try paying £2300 council tax a year and then bills on top and maintenance. A lot of them seem able bodied and should be put to work.
This program was a bit shocking to me , I moved into my house a year ago and the bathroom and kitchen were not exactly that nice tbh. But a year of skimping i managed to fix the bathroom up and the kitchen will be getting done sometime next year.
The way they turn their nose up , especially the guy at the end "dont we get a grant to do the decorating" ...you self entitled , ungrateful peice of st.
I suppose you cant blame them though you get something for almost nothing and you're self entitlement just grows and grows, not all of the are like that though i know some people who are very gateful and take pride in their council homes and do the, and spend thier own time and money to do it.
I personally can't wait until the whole system implodes and people are just forced to deal with what they have.

Has everyone stopped watching this due to anger?
Tonight I actually had some sympathy. The Cerebral Palsy case was sad. I know the Father seemed harsh in saying he was going to evict his son, but it appears that they have not been getting the correct support. For only one person to manage the situation alone is very mentally draining. Having a member of my family who suffers with another illness I know that sometimes I have found it hard and just had to walk away for an hour at times. If they really are on their own he has no rest from it and as much as another man would be able to stand by their son 24/7 we are not all the same and I couldn't imagine being in either of their shoes.
The lady escaping an abusive ex. I know we can make the assumptions that she didn't study at school and shacked up with the bad boy at a young age. And they are all her own mistakes, but all she wanted was somewhere for the children. Although I'm sure for everyone of them that is genuine there will be another who fakes domestic violence, or exaggerates to get themselves moved somewhere better.
The two drunks. Don't help themselves, but that's just not a life. That's existing.

Pity I missed tonight's episode. Hopefully catch it on 4Seven or C4OD tomorrow night. Cerebral Palsy (or anything else for that matter) can be hard on carer's / family if you don't get the correct support.I'm lucky my CP is only limited to my legs / walking, but its interesting to see how others cope

I live in the Borough of London where the problem (and yes it is a problem) of social housing is absolutely rife. Seriously I don't think there is a single street that doesn't have a high percentage of council tenants and it's galling to think that it's my tax money that is allowing these people to stay there for free. I could totally understand it if these people were in a desperate situation or on the breadline but they aren't. They are free loaders who take everything they can get for free because they know how to work the system.
So I decided to move out of the area and after months of looking found what I thought was the perfect house in one of the nicer suburbs, had a chat with the lovely owners and left with a good feeling considering making an offer. However as I walked to the car I bumped into the neighbour who took great delight in telling me that it was a great area made even better by the fact that they had managed to wangle a council house for free, just WTF?? Here I am worrying about if I'll be able to afford the mortgage and they've been living there for 10 years without paying a penny. Needless to say I didn't go ahead with the offer and that house is still for sale months later, I wonder if the owners know it's most likely their scrounging council tenant neighbours that are putting buyers off.
Don't quite get this post. You pulled out of buying a house because you found out a neighbour has his house from the council? How is that the fault of the person you nearly bought the house from? How is the fact you didn't make an offer going to change council policy? So I decided to move out of the area and after months of looking found what I thought was the perfect house in one of the nicer suburbs, had a chat with the lovely owners and left with a good feeling considering making an offer. I bought an ex council house and some of my neighbours are council tenants. I got the house I want at a price I can afford and wouldn't have let any knowledge of what my council tenant neighbours are paying in rent affect my decision. I view that as none of my business, although I appreciate in your case the person concerned volunteered the information to you.
On the subject of the TV programme I agree there are too many people who think they are owed a house with no effort from themselves.

Thought she was genuine until she refused B&B as she needed a flat! , also why didnt they put her in touch with a specialist charity for domestic abuse. I bet any money if they offerd a flat in a different area she would have refused. It is frightening that the council and social services and charities do not talk to each other though.
