I thought the bit with the dead, not quite dead Afghani was about as bad as it gets.
I found myself really torn at that part. When they were saying "Give him aid, but not too much". I didn't know what way to think. He was never going to survive with half of his missing. That noise will never be forgotten.
However put yourself in there position, America suffered huge losses in Iraq and they had probably lost friends from insurgents like him, they also cant 'put him out of his misery'as they are being filmed. I always remember a mate of mine who served in the marines and did a few tours of Afghanistan telling me about a wounded Taliban member they shot taking shelter under a tree, he wouldn't lift his hands to show he was unarmed so they stood back and then walked away knowing he would die, but he would of been given aid had he listened. The enemy is only going to get basic first aid
Netflix has announced that it will be the exclusive home of the new Star Trek show outside of the US and Canada...

Just started watching Stranger Things tonight too. Looks excellent so far. Love the 80's throwback and that theme music.... simply sublime.
Started watching this last night, ended up watching 5 episodes in a row. I love it. It reminds me and has the same feel as JJ Abrams "Super 8"type-r said:
Yeah was a great find - came across it randomly on Netflix. If you haven't seen Coherence yet, then you will almost certainly like that one too! Very similiar setup but on a different subject matter.
Watched Coherence tonight. Enjoyed it, very trippy though! Any other recommendations? 130R said:

I'm not feeling the love for Stranger Things.
I have watched 2 and am not bothered about seeing any more.
I think it's very clever the way it's caught the zeitgeist of the 80's but I fking hate stuff with child actors and and it also seems a bit hackneyed.
My issue is I feel the music is a little off. Yes the 80s songs and synth tracks are very good, but it often feels slightly out of place. For example nearly every scene has synth music. Someone opening a door? Synth music! Someone going up some stairs? Synth music! Random scene? Joy Division! It's like there was no thought put into the usage of the music other than "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we used this track here?"I have watched 2 and am not bothered about seeing any more.
