This thread prompted me to go and find Stranger Things. I told my wife that people said it was good - I was careful not to say that people on PH said it was good smile

We started at 8 the other evening and watched four. The next evening we watched the other four. From the titles and the music to the overall feel and look it is an almost perfect evocation of 80's films. Think of a kind of homage to Stephen King small town novels and Spielberg's story telling, with some John Carpenter in the mix and much more.

Recommended!

I watched the first two series and am saving the third for when I need cheering up.

Whilst in Germany recently I started watching the first season of The Last Kingdom. Very good, easy watching. But when I reached France it wasn't on Netflix any more (and it's not on UK Netflix.) Anyone know why? Poor timing or a country thing?

I'm halfway through S1. I like the little nuances, like the Snake with tits. I'll keep watching.

It was a BBC show earlier this year. Licencing issue no doubt.

Try using a proxy.

O/T Based on books by Bernard Cornwall. WELL worth a read (I'm on book 8 of 10). Needless to say, it's miles better than the TV version. (Audio book version also very good)

That aside I believe they are making a second season of the TV.

I've read two or three of the books (and enjoyed them) and it's switch brain off material regardless of the format. And whilst I'm scratching around for Netflix stuff to watch there's no shortage of good books.

Will give it a try with a proxy.

Apex story of the HyperCar

From the people behind drive on YouTube. Chris Harris and a bunch of other car people look at the big three Hyper cars and try to explain why they're so fascinating. Worth a watch for all the car porn.

3 1/2 minutes, 10 bullets

Another US shooting / murder trial tale, but gripping and sometimes jaw dropping. Black teenager and middle aged white man argue briefly about the teenagers loud music, before the middle aged man pulls a gun and shoots the kid 10 times.

Claims self defence at the trial as he 'thought' that he saw a gun - a fact which he doesn't mention to the police at his interview nor his girlfriend as they drive home. Apparently something called 'Stand Your Ground' means that you're allowed to shoot people over there if you reasonably think that you're in danger...

See a couple of Spotless recommendations on the previous page - can't echo these enough. It's compelling viewing.
