I've been watching and enjoying Braquo, but has there ever been a show with so much smoking in it??? Also, does anyone else think Walter Morlighem looks a lot like Ross Kemp?
smoking is tellyland short-hand for all sorts of pragmatic gritty dudes who get the job done, come what may. Goodies or baddies - if they're smoking, they might punch you.
That goes double for the French.

I'm not sure. On the one hand I've seen enough TV to know a stubbly French cop in a leather jacket with a fag on is clearly a violent liability.

On the other hand, absolutely every French person in Tellyland including grannies and toddlers smokes at every opportunity, so I'm not sure if the cigarette signifies simply 'French' more than it signifies 'treat me as you would a Terminator'.

Toughie.

I love Braquo but one observation is that they work in a world without CCTV (apart from that one scene but there was only one copy of the DVD!!!) Gonna try that Gommorah that a few people have mentioned.

The Siege of Jadotville, really enjoyed it, quite gripping I normally browse on the tablet whilst watching a film but didn't pick it up once.
Me too. Now reading the book it is based on.

Frequency

Cheesy stuff and slow and badly written, but it somehow gets inside your head.

It's about cascading consequences of changing things in the past. Yup.

I thought that too. They also recover from injuries remarkably quickly. I've watched the first series over the last couple of days thanks to this thread - one of the best things I've seen in a long time.

Was really looking forward to it based on this thread, but whilst the characters were very likable the film itself didn't do a huge amount for me. Not bad, not great, but in hindsight I'd have rattled through a couple of episodes of Narcos instead.

EVery programme has it's little things like that, but it shouldn't detract from the enjoyment of the progamme. I watched 5 episodes over the weekend; may watch S3E3 later this evening after work!

Recently finished all the Power series, worth a watch for high impact, something every episode, fast paced, tits and sex, guns and drugs with lots of twists and turns.

Watching Westworld once a week which is fairly interesting, thought provoking and intelligently put together. Bit slow with the "stuff" happening perhaps, lots of character development and the polar opposite to your Power type programs.

Just finished Stranger Things which was extremely good even though I went into it thinking I'd hate it, really looking forward to the next series.

Think i'm going to start watching Braquo on the back of this thread although I promised myself id finish some of my reading but keep getting way to into series.

Actually also watched Seige of Jadotville last night which was fairly gripping and intense, certainly kept my attention away from my phone.

Finally started watching South Park as well. Is always popular with people around my age (24) and probably all ages, but never really bothered with it. Although the latest series which is basiclly taking the piss out of the american elections, is very good.

I absolutely love South Park. Some of the episodes are quite weak, but some of them are just absolutely hilarious and they really push the boundaries on some of them!! I've got every single episode ever made smile

Except when you've read the books. Then it's a bit of a joke.

If you haven't read them, then I'm sure it'll be fine.

Bloody love Bernard Cornwall's books. Well worth a read (or as we often do, an audio book in the car). Last Kingdom particularly well read on Audible. (First month (book) free, or three months (books) free if you are on prime).

Phone, app, bluetooth, car, sorted.

ETA Book 10 of Last Kingdom out last week. smile
