This was very good. Amazing story. Lots and lots of mug punters in that world.
Brilliant doc.

So many 'experts' made to look like idiots by one chap in his kitchen.

White Rabbit Project now on.

Mythbusters without Adam and Jamie.
Watched a couple before I got bored and stopped the third halfway through. It's not brilliant, lacks something...
Agreed.

I've watched two and struggled to get to the end of the 2nd.

like they said thou, the amount of bottles involved other people must have been behind it. Having a family who stole 600million probably helps.

Ok, so this is a absolutely a guilty pleasure but I love this film. An bona fide, 10/10, cult film that nobody's ever seen:

Something Wild (1986)

A very straight Jeff Daniels gets corrupted by a very hot Melanie Griffiths.

Road trip/chaotic comedy/romance/redemption.

Sounds carp doesn't it?

Trust me it really isn't. It would be easy for me to explain/sell the film to you but to do so would be to spoil the dramatic tonal shifts that you need to experience for yourself when you watch it for the first time. Don't get me wrong, it ain't Citizen Kane, but then neither is Ghostbusters.

Don't look at the trailer on youtube as it spoils the plotline. Don't IMDB it as you'll find out which famous actor makes his incredible debut that sets the tone for the rest of his career.

Hopefully others on here might have seen it and can back up the recommendation without giving away any spoilers smile Get it watched!
I remember this film well, I rented the video when it was available in the '80's (even bought the OST on vinyl) and, just recently, managed to buy a DVD copy. It still is a very good film (of two halves). Even my 20 year old step son enjoyed it, especially the main villain's performance.
You've sold it to me, its on the list
So.

You know it says "gems" in the thread title? Well, some gems are occluded. Cloudy. Imperfect. Chipped. Fractured.

Can anyone point me towards the "Sunday Afternoon Hours Refund Claim Form" please? What? You mean I can't get that time back?

The problem with films/TV shows that aren't in the 'Top Tier', those that almost everyone loves, is that the 'Lower Tier' stuff can be very subjective, more so for the older films. I remember watching Something Wild for the first time in the '80's, and loved it, it was quite a ride, both funny and scary. I took a chance and hunted down the DVD this year, and still enjoyed it, as did the younger members of our family. This is, of course, no guarantee that everyone will like it.

'Tis a dangerous game to play, revisiting favourite films/books/music from the past. Done it a few times, and about half the time my fond memories have been terribly trampled on!
A couple of examples, 48hrs, watched it for the first time in many years, and thought it was better than ever, did the same for Waynes World, which I loved when it came out, and thought it was cringeworthy!

Haha. I'm so sorry. It's still a great film though biggrinwink

For something completely different, how about 'Captive'? Real life stories of people who have been captured (like the husband and wife on the boat by Somali pirates). The first episode in the US prison is very good. Later eps, less so.

Precinct Seven Five is also very good but that's on Prime

I liked it, I'm not at all a romcom chap but this seemed a little harder edged, sharper and funnier than the regular stuff. OK its not in my top ten but the reason I'm on this thread is to try stuff outside my normal viewing habits so a thumbs up from me

Sense8

Really engaging and wonderfully written. Highly recommeneded. By the creators of The Matrix (whose own story is just as interesting!)

This was so heavily laden with politically correct characters and contrivances that I didn't make it past the first episode.

I thought it was rather excellent, very enjoyable, good effects. Story was a tad silly, but then the same can be said for most scifi flicks.

It reminded me very much of that Final fantasy CGI film from 2001.

I really enjoyed it, was a solid bit of sci-fi with a gritty look and good effects.

Bit odd, trying to like it, but Bart Curlish is superb.
