Anyone picked up Travellers yet? Ten minutes in to E01 and it's pretty intense. Not read any reviews...
Binged my way through it Fri-Sat, thought it was bloody good tbh. Really kicks it up a notch in the last episode!
I am on Ep4 and loving it so far, good characters and story
Ep5 is well worth sticking around for.
Just watched Ep5!

it reminded me of the Interview episodes of the apprentice! hehe
I liked Travellers, but there are issues with the plot that crop up with all time travel style shows. Mostly relating to a false sense of urgency - if they're sent back from the future then they already know how things pan out from the historical record, so why send people back "just in time" to do something and then have to rush around, rather than sending them in good time (hell, even a couple of weeks early!) so that they can easily get in position with all the gear they might need? This thought started to annoy me after a while, but I stuck with it and I'm pleased I did...

If you like zombie-themed films, The Rezort has just been added to Netflix. I was very surprised by this, I expected a very low production, bottom of the barrel movie with such a title.

But in all honesty, I really enjoyed it, so much so that I managed to track down a BR version. It's not the best of the genre, not even close, but it is damn good fun and very competently made. It stars Dougray Scott and Claire Goose!

I've binged my way through both Shooter and The Expanse, thought both were great.

Yes Shooter feel's like an expanded retread of the film bur that's not necessarily a bad thing. S2 will be a tricky path to tread though. The Expanse took a couple of episodes to find it's feet but once it did I was hooked, will have to check out the books now I think!

Watched the first five episodes of Designated Survivor last night. Very good, House of Cards meets 24 with a little bit of NCIS thrown in too. Definitely keeps your attention, though I'm not a fan of some of the more sentimental stuff thrown in, usually at the end of the episode and it holds your hand through the plot a bit more than HoC. On the whole though, a great series to watch so far.

Ha!

I watched the first 3 of that last night when I discovered there was bugger all on. 24 meets House of Cards seems like a good description, it's fairly light going so you don't need to think to hard either, nice late evening brain out TV. The potential ending/resolution feels a little too telegraphed but we'll see.

Also interesting watching it having read the Jack Ryan Debt of Honour/Executive Orders books which is basically the same story with a more right wing survivor.

Anyone a fan of Black Mirror? Some episodes are a bit hit and miss but generally very watchable.

Started watching Lemony Snicket on Sunday and now 6 episodes in, as others have said, bit slow to get going but it does get there. I think that most people watching it will know the story and what's going to happen so its difficult to hook them from the start.

Thinking of watching Shooter next, the film is one that i'm able to watch over and over so I've got high hopes for it.

Just found Detectorists.

A nice little charming (not necessarily laugh out loud) comedy about metal detector(ists) written, starring and directed by Mackenzie Crook and starring Toby Jones.

I like it. Easy watching.

I watched Hunt For The Wilder People after seeing the recommendations on the films thread.

A nice heart warming film with some good humour and a couple of lump in the throat moments. A very enjoyable way to while away an hour or so.

7.5/10

My only gripe being I would have thought the fat kid would have lost a few pounds after yomping through the woods for 5+months, however he seemed even fatter at the end biglaugh

I see The Guv'nor is now on Netflix, watched this the other week and really enjoyed it - A documentary about Lenny McLean, made by his son. A rather harrowing life at times with a particularly nasty childhood with an abusive step father, growing into a proper nutter with a generous case of OCD...worth a watch. Interesting why some of his family wanted nothing to do with it though.

Edit: jmorgan beat me to it smile
I met him once in a dive bar in Soho...must have been around the time he was running the doors on the Hippodrome etc. Nice enough bloke, didn't punch me for staring (cos I knew him from somewhere, turns out I'd seen a doco on telly about bare knuckle/unlicenced boxing) just came up to me at the bar and said "you think you know me, don't you?" and bought me a drink. I bought him a lemonade later - he said he was working so not drinking but that film puts that right, eh? Proper air of menace about him, though. Huge hands!

Found myself watching Plane Resurrection last night. Essentially each episode shows a rich bloke buying a wrecked old plane, a bit of a story about why the plane was good in its day, then an annoyingly superficial look at the restoration process, ending with the plane taking off and flying again.

Well I assume that's how the rest of the series goes as I'm only a couple of episodes in, but it's brain out wallpaper TV and mildly diverting.

I started watching 'The OA' on Friday, not really knowing what to expect other than it had a decent enough rating on IMDB (8/10).

Watched the entire season over the last few days and really enjoyed it. It is a very hard show to describe without giving too much away so, I shan't even try! Suffice to say that the acting performances were excellent from an unknown cast (unknown to me at least) The ending was completely unexpected, really did not see it coming at all.

I would agree with the IMDB rating and give it a very solid 8/10

Enjoying some proper British comedy with 'The Thick of it' at the moment, not at all what the thumbnail made me think. Lot of sweary angry humour and making the government look inept.
