I enjoyed it as well. Did it feel like the pilot for a TV series to you?
Yes it does a bit, very different role for RC
Setting himself up for more roles as aging, fat, grizzled ex-cops/PIs?
The scene in the bog with the mag and the gun and the fag and the door and the pants and the mirror was excellent. I bet the crew were in fits. smile

Agreed. Some cracking scenes and a good movie in general.

Not sold.
Agree, some scenes were cracking - but I just lost interest and switched it off halfway through. Those scenes were good but the rambling plot just didn't tie them together well enough for me.

Memphis belle. Not the recent film, the 1944 propaganda film. There were there, not actors.

Few more on there as well of that type, Midway for one.

Was it worth watching? Almost did today.

Having an interest in WWII I found it interesting, some footage is already out there in other clips for some of it. Especially the B17 shot down and the crew bailing out. That was real. It was shot without sound. Thing is for me, that was for real.

Another that has popped up is "Thunderbolt" and "Tunisian Victory". Seems a few propaganda films from the US of that age have crept in.

Fauda.

Series about an Israeli military team going after a Palestinian terrorist that they thought was already dead. Well made with plenty of dramatic tension, but let down by the Israeli dialogue which has been crudely dubbed into flat, emotionless English. Enough in the first episode for me to persevere with it, but I'm not sure that I can get past the lips out of sync dialogue

Would have been great had they left it and added subtitles.

Shame.

You should all watch Five Came Back. Just came on Netflix, a 3 part documentary about 5 Hollywood directors who filmed during the war and is commented by modern directors such as Spielberg and del Toro etc.

Really enjoyed it!

Brilliant brutal Korean thriller/drama, fans of Oldboy will like this
Had a Leon feel to the start of it...then went in a more traditional revenge style... enjoyed it a lot. thumbup

edit - part 3 is quite a grim watch...
Yup - binged this yesterday and it was very engrossing; great input from Del Toro, Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola.

Young Offenders - 2 boys from Cork and a bale of cocaine. Amusing, not hilarious but a good all round easy watch (as long as you can understand the Cork accent, which is toned down a bit but still quite strong).

8 episodes into Travellers - again solid rather than outstanding sci-fi but watchable.

Even though I have them on DVD I end up watching Only Fools often on Netflix to get the laughter flowing.

It got added yesterday I think smile

Not keen on this new "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" rating system though, if anything I'd like to see the old stars one extended to 10.

Yeah, we watched the first episode in season 3 last night.

I have read that the reason for the thumbs up/down is due to Amy Schumer complaining that her programme had poor ratings, blaming 'trolls'. Not sure how true this is, though.
