Netflix - What gems have you found?
Discussion
Been using my friends Netflix account for the last couple of weeks, to watch It's always Sunny in Philadelphia. It's been a few years since I cancelled my subscription, as it didn't have great content. Is it just me or has it improved massively? It's tempting me again! I'm getting the feeling that it's going to get even better over the next year or so...
What are people's thoughts? Worth subscribing again?

I have been watching a lot of Sons of Anarchy the past few weeks, it is brilliant!
Definitely.I don't really recommend that to people as it feels a bit puerile and yet I absolutely love it. Ranks up there with anything on TV in the past few years.

I've watched a couple of episodes, didn't get massively into it, and then my mate tells me there is a "brutal" gang rape scene in it. I was put off after that and stopped watching before I saw the episode.
It is obviously an unpleasant scene, but I wouldn't describe it as "brutal". It focusses more on the aftermath, and during said scene you don't see anything - it is all implied. Not very long either. I think it is a great show and worth sticking with, it doesn't focus on torture / brutality like some other TV shows and films do.

Ok, I'm at a bit of a loose end for a new series to watch at the moment so I'll try getting back into it - said mate does have a tendency to exaggerate things...
I don't think there is such as thing as a lovely gang rape scene, but I think the impression you got was that it was gratuitous when it was all pretty integral to the story and properly shocking. If it sways your decision, I hate gratuitously violent action films and loved SOA
The Great Raid.
A bit of a whiff of a made for TV film about it, but the seasons of the Japanese brutaility hold little back. Theres better war films about, but its not a bad way to waste two hours. Based on a true story, and supposedly very accurately done.
