It's brilliant. Big yes from me.

We watched Argo on Netflix last night. Very good indeed.

Please watch an episode.
Jesus christ, what were they thinking. Can't help but wonder what the fk is going to happen next and just laugh at it.
100% late night stoner tv that.
It's the only thing I've seen where one alsation gasses another after pretending to be Hitlers dog.

Mind bending.

I've been watching some good stuff from down under. An Australian comedy series called Dreamland, and a New Zealand film comedy "What we do in the shadows" and can highly recommend both of them.

I'm planning on watchings Beasts Of No Nation tonight. Trailers for it looked great. Netflix seem to be putting out some great original stuff.

Thanks for the heads up.

In return I offer the suggestion of johnny mad dog, if you've not already seen it. Treads very similar ground, fanatically well.

Agreed. Im curious to test my theory that these kind of films work much better with unknowns in the main roles because I definitely think that Johnny mad dog would have been spoiled by celebrity.

(Fantastically, not fanatically)

That's exactly what I thought.

I'm fairly certain none were actors and some of them were acting from direct personal experience too, iirc.

Art & Copy

It is a PBS production, but don't let that put you off. It is the history of graphic/advertising art from the 50s.

I studied graphic art from the start of the 60s and it was a thrilling time. With other students we used to swap ads we'd pulled out of magazines, such as Print in Britain and British Printer which were nothing more than a gallery of then current display adverts.

This was the time of the Berbaum Think Small adverts for VW. Whilst it might seem odd now, the graphic department of advertising agencies would design the ad and then pass it to a copywriter. Bernbaum put them together and the rest is history.

The programme shows the revolution in the advertising industry. It excluded anything from Germany, the UK and anywhere else, but then it is PBS.

A thoroughly enjoyable 90 mins, both for those like me who did a bit of graphic advertising and for those who are unaware of how art changed display adverts.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but Cowspiracy is pretty eye opening. Have to admit it was something I had absolutely no idea about.

Beasts of No Nation

Simple yet powerful, gripping and hard hitting film about a child soldier in Africa. Different to most other war films and possible film of the year

Winter on Fire

Documentary about the pro EU demonstrations in Ukraine, eye opening and shocking as the demonstrations grow and the police use unimaginable violence to stop them, hard to believe it happened in 2014 in Europe. One sided yes but this is the best documentary I have seen on there since Virunga

Narcos, Virunga and the above prove Netflix are showing some of the best TV out there
