I was chuffed for the old couple and that programme - I've got that one in my collection, but sadly without those cracking autographs, so mine's worth about a fiver.

As usual, the rest of the punters were deluded. The interior of that bus looked like it had been done by some new-age travellers with things they'd found in a skip. And the paintwork! I wondered whether it was a wrap, but I think it'd been brush painted.

The watch was a good investment - down from £20k to £2k.

I was actually thinking if they don't get £200 I'll contact Ch4 and give them £200 for it!

What's the story with the wifey and her fella trying to get 20k for a watch, yet they're in the "jewerally business" ?

Chopper-man trying to raise £25k for his daughter's singing career. DON'T! She's yet another dreamer, I reckon. Bit of a minger. Waste of a good bike.

Yeah I thought that, of course mother says she is fantastic and just needs this "break" - Well, X Factor is that way and it doesn't cost 50k.....

That was our general opinion as well. If you're any good, do you really need £50k to make a 'break' ?
The £50k looked like it was going straight into the pockets of the music producers fawning all over her and saying how great she sounded....

Quite a few failures tonight. Must confess I was dying to see that rock "checked" and see if they won or lost...

That guy/gal Ian is an interesting character, but they waste the taxi fare going to see him with a valuation because they never get one. He just enthuses over the item, and that's it. Surely there must be away to see "inside" the rock, some sort of geophysics device?

The wine collection made me laugh - another dreamer with an inflated idea of what they've got. Apparently most of it was just restaurant quality stuff. The way he faffed over that Bentley was dumb - they only wanted less than half its second-hand value FFS. No need to drive it, no need to "think about it". The chef seemed very good at making sandwiches and toasties, but what else can he do?

I took that to mean 'off to run a HPI on it', I'd want to be sure the owner of it actually 'owned' it and wasn't running it as a rental. rotate
But no need to take it for a spin other than 'just because'. driving

I am sure he does give a value, just they don't show it. After all, if they say "I'll buy it for 2k" and the valuation was 5k............

And he used to be on Dickinson's Real Deal too I think many moons ago..

To me that just didn't stack up, they seem very risk averse (understandably) so taking a punt on spending £2k on what might be a lump of rock made no business sense at all, maybe he (James) did just fancy a bit of gamble on this one though.

Agreed, made me laugh when they said they'd got 3 quarters of the way through and made it about £35k. They must lose a lot of time and money on deals like that.

I think that's just for telly though, he test drives everything he can really. I suppose we all would in his shoes, whether its a double decker bus or a Bentley, just to say you've done it (I suspect he may well have driven the odd Bentley or two in his time though..!).

I'd like to see the 4 year business plan for the gastro-pub chain.

Year 1 - Get godfather to buy pub. Make sandwiches.
Year 2 - Get godfather to buy another pub. Make sandwiches.
Year 3 - Get godfather to buy another pub. Make sandwiches.
Year 4 - Get godfather to buy another pub. Make sandwiches.

Anyone see the start of the new series last night ?
Felt sorry for the 32 year old guy on there given a few years to live who wanted to pawn his 964 Turbo, think he'll be having some serious words with the guy he bought it off.
Strange for the show to start off with a couple of "no offers" although that Shackleton relation was really trying it on I think, the coffin had brand new philips screws in it! Likewise, the sledge, seat and pickaxe could have been picked up from any old junk shop.
Also what was with the woman whose mum had dementia ? She had clearly inherited a nice wedge of money (from the sale of her parents 4 houses) so had given up work, then she was pawning off her mums old jewellery for a flight ("might even upgrade to business class" she smugly said) to see her parents after they'd had to go and live in a care home in Taiwan?South Korea? (sorry, can't remember exactly) as they couldn't afford a care home here!

I wanted to know just what was up with the 964 Turbo, surely a basket case would be worth loaning £35k against, it looked tidy enough other than the front splitter looking a little rough. It must be a proper bodge job underneath. frown
