Anyone see the start of the new series last night ?
Felt sorry for the 32 year old guy on there given a few years to live who wanted to pawn his 964 Turbo, think he'll be having some serious words with the guy he bought it off.
Strange for the show to start off with a couple of "no offers" although that Shackleton relation was really trying it on I think, the coffin had brand new philips screws in it! Likewise, the sledge, seat and pickaxe could have been picked up from any old junk shop.
Also what was with the woman whose mum had dementia ? She had clearly inherited a nice wedge of money (from the sale of her parents 4 houses) so had given up work, then she was pawning off her mums old jewellery for a flight ("might even upgrade to business class" she smugly said) to see her parents after they'd had to go and live in a care home in Taiwan?South Korea? (sorry, can't remember exactly) as they couldn't afford a care home here!
There are a lot of oddball characters on this show (not least jewellery expert "Ian"!) but it's clear the producers love this - it makes good telly and they're going to concentrate on the more unusual stories.

I would have asked the Shackleton guy to produce a family tree, just to authenticate his claim. I don't know much about Model Ts, but that hearse had an ignition key (!?) and appeared to be a cut and shut short-chassis model, and not the commercial TT. It had chain drive from a diff about a metre in front of the rear axle.

I wonder why the shop owner didn't get a Porsche expert to look at the car until the very end of the process, unless editing made it look that way? Odd way to go about spending £35k.

I wanted to know just what was up with the 964 Turbo, surely a basket case would be worth loaning £35k against, it looked tidy enough other than the front splitter looking a little rough. It must be a proper bodge job underneath. frown
Personally the way they were talking about welding underneath, I think it was a cut & shut anything else really wouldn't of mattered for a 35K loan.

It was a shame about the Porsche. Seemed like a nice guy just trying to enjoy every day.

The Taiwanese woman was strange. Surely the sale of the four properties would've easily covered her mums care costs.

I'd go further to say that even a cut & shut 964 turbo would be enough for a £35k loan. Aren't puckka 964 turbos going for well north of £100k these days...?

Only 3.6 editions. His was the earlier 3.3 with the wrong wheels, spoiler and a few 'other' issues

Yep, was also surprised about the 964. I'd heard it was quite common for them to have had some rust repairs by now, so not sure what to make of the welding issue.

The signatures were of boxers from different generations. How the heck would they have all been in the same room at the same time using the same pen?

How many years has Ali had Parkinsons? Surely he couldn't sign anything anyway?

Why would anybody be such a sucker to buy such a thing?

That ring must have been worth a fortune, as surely they would have bid him at least 20% under second hand retail value on the watches. Either that or the YSL bag was worth bucks as well.

The guy's house must have been worth millions, presumably though he didn't fancy freeing up some cash and downsizing.

I enjoyed his description of the way he'd made his money "well we started making rubber bones for dogs, then we made some dog toys and dog pulls and sold hundreds of thousands of 'em, then I sold the company and retired".
Some people make it sound so simple scratchchin

I was just deciding whether the Brazilian bodybuilder was OK or iffy, when they showed her sister. I've had to have a stiff brandy - that was horrible. She should stay away from small children.
