You're missing the point of it I think, it's the story of Gordon, not Batman.

Exactly. It's about Jim Gordon and how Gotham developed. Wayne is an ancillary character.

Wayne is in it to much to be ancillary.
I'm not sure if he should be left out more or it's a good story to see how Bruce's mind turns into what will be the Batman.

The story is about Gotham, a nasty city that draws extremists.

I do like Alfred being an ex-Royal Marine. biggrin

Glad, Jerome is dead.
I wouldn't be too quick on that one... it was a magic show he died during wink
NO knowledge of spoilers there, I'm just hoping he's not really very dead as I thought he was a great character! And you can't really have two Jokers in the one series...

I hope there are no references to Joker in the show, even limp wristed bait-and-switch stuff like Jerome. Joker is massively over-used and when Joker was created, he burst onto the page fully formed, he didn't have a back story because that would detract from his craziness.
Batman has a host of goons...plus, I wanna see new people, prototypes for the real baddies we get later.

Can't comment either way on that - Spoilers wink

What I will repeat is my comment above, the show is about Gordon & Gotham's characters; not Batman per se wink

I think it was a clever way of dealing with the idea / character of the "The Joker". As Jerome's father said, just before he was killed by his son, that his son's legacy would be death. Especially when the episode ended with various Gotham citizens of varying ages all displaying either copycat tendencies, or portraying his madness, etc.

I assume that will work towards showing exactly how Gotham devolved so badly over the years to the point of criminality, etc, portrayed in the films, comics, etc.

Hmm, Not liking this second series so far, loved the first series. New character's aren't as interesting, hope that changes.

Watched an episode of Walking Dead (S4) last night, and the guy who plays the Penguin was in it! (although he didn't last long..)

Trying to decide which TV child is the most annoying; young Bruce in this, Joffrey in Got or Caaaarrrrrl in Walking Dead!

I'm really enjoying it, glad to see Harvey back with Jim. When I first started watching I wasn't convinced with the chap who played Jim but he has grown on me. Still think Alfred needs to give Bruce a good slap every now and again!

I'm enjoying this show even though I haven't seen the first series. I thought I'd take a punt on it when it started a few weeks ago as it comes straight after new NCIS and it has drawn me in. I have a mate who's something of a comic geek and he's telling me its nothing like the comics, isn't making sense and is rubbish, but as I am not a comic geek this isn't bothering me and just sees me enjoying how Gotham descended into the crazy place I know it to be from the movies.

I think that's the whole point of the show. It's pretty much set in the grey murky area of back stories where nothing is particularly set in stone so they can do what they want to some extent.

Tell your mate he's an idiot. Just enjoy it for what it is.

Nice to see Ron Rifkin introduced as a new character. Fantastic actor, who plays a bad guy so well, so I'm looking forward to his story arc smile

I am really enjoying the 2nd series so far, thought I'd miss Fish but plenty else going on to distract!

I was in two minds about whether I even wanted to start watching as I'm not the biggest fan of the Batman films (though I like Batman!) Glad I gave it a shot!

I also like to think re: Jerome that he has spread an almost virus like craziness around Gotham and as a result gives rise to the true J

Anybody still watching this? I'm still really enjoying this, the story is really picking up pace, I guess that Barbara isn't the one Jim Gordon eventually marries (sure his Mrs in the Batman movies was called Barbara). I haven't seen this weeks yet, but look forward to it every week, one of the few shows I watch regularly and still really enjoy.

I watch it and really enjoy it, but, and it's quite a big but, we know what happens with the main characters.

I mean they aren't going to kill penguin when Batman is about 14 years old. So any storyline where he's in trouble, you know the outcome.

Repeat for all characters.

^^ true but I like watching what makes them become the eventual characters we know. I also got completely mislead re The Joker...I think!!

I am still enjoying it but yes Barbara threw me aswell, though this is Gotham, it is not too late!
