I watched Gravity this weekend.

Pretty to look at, but I was bored rigid.

I really can't see what a the fuss is/was about - just a lot of band wagoning in my opinion.

I've seen a lot of films but this was just about the worst I've ever seen. Catastrophically over hyped is an understatement. I was tempted to fast forward it was that tedious at times. All the more atrocious that this picked up 7 oscars and Wolf of Wall Street nothing.

there's a shock

gravity on blue/ray /tv etc - no where near as good

I knew when I watched it on Imax that it was one of the best cinematic experiences I would ever had, but on TV it would lose nearly 100% of its atmosphere

-basically they should never have even bothered releasing it on blueray- it simply would not be the same-

anyone wavering -do not bother with the dvd- go and see it at an imax or 3d cinema while you can - it is uniquely only good in 3d

My opinion, having just watched it.....in 3D at home.

It was ok.Nothing more.Yeh the special effects are pretty convincing but the story line, you could say what story line really.

Very little drama,no thrills,the interplay/chemistry between the 2 actors....well there wasn't any really.

As the young uns would say,Meh !

6/10

I just thought this was tired, I'm mean it was so much better in Wall-E. In fact everything about Wall-E was better than Gravity.

2/5 stars from our household for Gravity, watched in Blueray 2D on a 40" screen

Love the comment about a crocodile eating Bullock at the end, that would have promoted the film to 4/5 stars.

Seriously.

there was also a couple of scenes where debris was coming towards the camera/Bullock and just before impact they switched the shot.....the effect totally lost.

I just kept thinking how good Clooney looked (without any surgery) and how gaunt and plastic Bullock looked.

(I'm not gay or out)

Also, why were NASA taking to her at "the end"?
Load of old ste.

You sound a bit gay. Are you sure? I don't rate Bullocks acting a bit but her arse did look fairly good in the film

Watched it last night. 2D. 32 inch TV with normal stereo speakers.

Thought it was brilliant. Just the right amount of fiction mixed with authenticity.

I liked the ending as well. Nice to have something to ponder. Lots of films don't bother giving you and ending due to laziness and it's too open. This was about right.

The effects were fantastic and enjoyment was only partially ruined by the cat vomiting on the carpet during one of the more intense sections of the film :-)

Just finished watching it at home; great visually but the rest very "meh", the usual Hollywood Blockbuster including glaring plot holes, ridiculous characters doing ridiculous things that would never actually happen in the given scenario, I wanted Sandra Bullock to die, I've kind of felt I've wasted a fiver, don't get the hype one bit.

I thought it was a bit like Avatar (although I liked Gravity a lot more). Very impressive visually on a huge screen in 3d, but very thin storyline. Doesn't work on a 55" tv though, could never watch it again because the story annoys me too much!

I loved gravity on the big screen, especially because of the visual spectacle. Don't think it would work at home.

I watched it last night on a home TV and thoroughly enjoyed it.

OK, it's not 100% accurate from a "real space" perspective but it looks good and I was impressed with the accuracy of the spacecraft - especially the exteriors.

I thought the manuals she was using to work out how to work the Soyuz was quite funny though.

The hairy ride through the atmosphere was not altogether unrealistic as that has happened at least three times with Soyuz spacecraft - when the service module at the rear failed to detach properly before re-entry commenced.

The two bits in bold are cause & effect. People hyped it because they saw, heard and felt it in an IMAX theater. I don't think many people expected it to be a great film on DVD as it loses so much of what made is special. I guess it's like seeing a West End major production being performed by year 6 primary school kids, the story is the same but the play was written with the intention of playing on the biggest stage. smile
Yep.
I saw it in IMAX 3D & it was a stunning experience. Can't even begin to imagine what a let down a DVD or Blu-ray at home would be...
