Glad I am not the only one. Watched it on Sky BO the other night. Was thoroughly underwhelmed.

The visuals were very good but the story and the characters were awful. Even GC who I usually like was terrible. Want the £5.50 I paid to rent it back.
I was told by someone on a differnet forum the other day that the reason I thought it was rubbish was because I didn't go to a cinema to see it in 3D. If I had I would've aprreciated the stunning imagery and soundtrack.

Still wouldn't have made up for the awful acting and plot though.
Yes I guess it is one you probably have to see at the cinema, but it would still be boring.

Graity; great film technically but as a film in general with its thin plot and crap characters it is pretty poor.

Thought it was very good.

But yes primarily as a visual experience. The characters and plot are just OK really, it is the brilliance of the visual experience that make it a great film.

I found it best to watch with all lights off and 5.1 sound cranked up...

You should hear the Dolby Atmos mix of it. Especially the spinning around parts, and when the camera moves to go inside Sandra Bullock's suit/head. It really does gain a whole extra dimension. Way more of an experience than you'd expect a few targetted sound effects to make. Easy to see why it won two sound oscars.

Not a whole pile happened, was still on the edge of my seat for the whole film though. Thought it was excellent when I came out of the cinema after, had no idea why. Oh well.

I think the big screen would give it some wow factor for about 5 minutes but then as you say

Yes I guess it is one you probably have to see at the cinema, but it would still be boring.

Saw this for the first time on Sky Movies last night.
I can imagine all those bits flying around were pretty awesome in 3D - wish I'd gone to see it now!
Anyway, in 2D is was an enjoyable enough film - the 5.1 got a good workout which was cool. I don't think my rear speakers have ever worked so hard smile

We watched it when it first came out on Imax 3D and thought meh! Tried watching it again a few nights ago on box office and gave up with the silliness. Rubbish plot, rubbish acting. One million percent advertising hype.

I was gifted this by google play. Just watched it on my laptop woth my best headphones. Enjoyed it immensely. Best film ever? No chance. 90minutes of tension and good special effects? Hell yes.

Notable mention for Sandra Bullocks nice bum.

At the end, when Bullock is on the deserted shore, I was SO hoping she would find a half buried Statue of Liberty, Planet of the Apes style.
