I hope it's better than the identically named stand up show he did.

That was also excruciating to watch, but for all the wrong reasons...

If you've seen the clip from Extras where he tries to chat up a woman, it's a bit like that, but this character is also actually funny and nice....when he is not attempting courting techniques.

This is really growing on me.

Bit like CYE meets Entourage, where all the 'chicks' are hot but no-one gets lucky, and the lead has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Might be its downfall though as Merchant has made his character so unlikeable that I'm not sure how the audience can root for him at all. I'm sticking with it for now - its a cringe-fest. smile

He has redeeming qualities, he is funny, and giving. And when he is not so frantically chasing women is OK.

It’s not too bad and it’s watchable, and this week’s episode (S1E3) was the best yet. I like Merchant’s colleague (the one with fuzzy hair).

I’m also in the camp of finding Merchant’s character a bit of a moron and it’s hard to root for him. (I understand that IS the point)

It’s no Curb, US Office or VEEP though.

I lol'd and cringed in equal measures at the first episode when his mate opened the car door onto the pavement.

You all should try and catch this, the latest episode 'Long Beach' is the best yet.

Merchant mixing it with the Long beach crew was cracking me up. The other characters are being fleshed out as well, almost got a Seinfeld feel to it.

Finished off with a bit of Rafferty this week smile

I did love the Long Beach nightclub scene and ensuing story, class stuff from Merchant! smile

Enjoyed the first episode, second wasn't too bad either but the third was poor and switched off during the fourth. Poor man's Gervais!

The one with the 'fight'?
I liked that one. Warming a bit to the character, though he is a cretin. biggrin

The film version has just shown on Atlantic quite out of the blue - it's worth catching on demand
