Had to ff most of it,far too pretentious for me,I just don't inhabit the same world as that sort of nonsense.
Why is it nonsense?,it might not be up your street but personally I'm glad there are people pushing boundries and doing things in a different way, his restaurant is far less pretentious than a lot of the more traditional restaurants I've eaten in.chrispmartha said:

But it does actually taste good, which is the difference. The cod dish is really really tasty and one of the nicest fish dishes I've eaten, oh and I'm not posh. His restaurant is actually really relaxed and not stuffy in the slightest.chrispmartha said:

Each to their own,I'm not having a pop,its your choice ateotd however I'd rather eat fish and chips that looks like fish and chips and is substantial to fill my belly. What sort of prices?
it was £75 for 10 courses last time I went - which is fairly reasonable for a michelin starred restaurant. FWIW I didn't like the sea urchin dish, the raw prawn was lovely but the sauce wasn't to my taste.
I've eaten at the other 'darling' of the chef world Sat Bains' restaurant, it was honestly a total waste of money, that WAS pretentious.

The prawn brain was fine, prawn heads are the tastiest bits on a prawn, it was the sea urchin which wasn't to my liking. You didnt like the prawn brain sauce? The look on one of the ladies faces summed it up I thought..looked absolutely grim.
Its not a new thing to eat 'different' parts of an animal, go to a good bistro in france and you'll find allsorts, lambs brains are a staple over there, and very nice they are too. Using all edible parts of an animal is a good thing

It's quite revealing, is it not, that his restaurant name deliberately references a charlatan using smoke and mirrors to fool gullible punters
Again, just because it's not to your taste why is it fooling anyone?, it either tastes good and you have a good time in the restaurant or you don't. As I say I think people pushing boundries is a good thing, the world would be a boring place if everything was the same, I just don't get the mentality that because it's 'different' it's automatically a con or people are being fooled.krunchkin said:

It's quite revealing, is it not, that a keyboard warrior is quick to disparage an establishment without having even set foot in there.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
