Would be interesting to know what experience or training some of these people have had. They seem to be able to produce food which is way above the abilities of the average good home cook in terms of both taste and presentation. Don't think they learn it just from a few weeks in this competition.
I get the impression that they know a lot of the ingredients etc beforehand and practise the hell out of it.

Plus, with a couple of good cook books you can produce well presented food.

Saying all that I cannot bake for toffee...or even make toffee and would fall flat on my face on any baking tasks. If I was on the show I would practice every waking hour.

Some of them have mentioned spending a fortune on the fancy ingredients while practising.

I’d watch a Reservoir Dogs remake with Jay Raynor in it ...

Only 2 out of 6 dishes were done well. Not a great round. Billy for the chop I reckon.

It wan’t Billy but it could well have been. It’s not been a very strong series for me ... certainly not compared to last year with three standout chefs.
