Good Lord. Sandy's to lose I'd have thought. Even Jon and Gregg weren't convincing at the delivery of the results. Most odd.

Correct result for me. Thomas has consistently been the best throughout the competition.

Very close result, there were minor mistakes from all of them and yet they were all very good.

Best man won!

I thought his dessert on Thursday night was brilliant and his Venison from a couple of weeks ago looked like the dish of the series. Last night menu would make him the ultimate gastro pub.

However, for a unique restaurant experience, I think Sandy would be hard to better

Reflecting on it, a rather underwhelming final, for reasons I can't really pinpoint, except perhaps that they were all so very earnest about it, weren't they?

Oh, I don't know, it's one way of acquainting oneself with people one didn't know existed. wink

Thought Tommy was great, British food done with panache (Hand and Flowers style perhaps?) and seemed a likeable chap.

Sandy went a bit too off piste with her choices. Other chap (David?) was unlucky, just messed up pudding a bit I think, too dry

Agree with previous poster standard was not quite as stellar as it has been over the years

Gutted to see Claire go. I liked her and she was always smiling. biggrin

Thomas was a well deserved winner. As JT said, not fine dining, but food you really want to eat. Pretty much sums it up really, good honest grub done to the highest standards without frippery and bks.

Sandys food did look exciting and interesting though. Would love to try her buns. biggrin

Glad to see Tom win - his is the food I would most like to eat. Sandy is very inventive and comes up with some amazing combinations of flavours but I didnt look at it and think yum and I guess that when it comes to making a decision about who should win the yum factor should take precedence.

Good to see a complete absence of smearage in the final dishes.

I agree, they were a bit dull though that doesn’t make any difference to how their food tastes. I thought Sandy was a bit unlucky in the final as her menu seemed the most creative, but I am sure they were all delicious.
