Did anyone get the email from the O2 that it hadn't actually sold out?

Strangely enough the O2 website then didn't work, but Ticketmaster did. I managed to get a Level 1 ticket today for the Tuesday show.

If you didn't get tickets the final show is being broadcast on Gold, Sunday 20th July.

Also, there's a documentary about the events leading up to the concerts on BBC (1 ?) Sunday night around 10:30pm.

I am concerned that this is going to be awful.

I don't want my positive memories, my nostalgic feel-good attitude to them, to be shattered.

I am staying well away. smile

Well, it wasn't awful. It wasn't however earth-shatteringly good either. I'm not a fan of musicals so any form of singing or choreographed stuff just isn't me and I thought the singing and dancing got in the way of more classic sketches. Terry Gilliam's animations are entertaining on the TV but at a stage show they got in the way of... you guessed it, more classic sketches...

I'm glad I went, if only to say 'I was there' and there were bits that had me in stitches, mainly Cleese and Palin trying not to giggle in the parrot sketch.

I don't normally agree with reviews but this time I think this actually sums it up quite well: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/comedy/comedy-r...

Eric in the documentary the other night said they needed the dancing, because the O2 isn't the Hollywood bowl and they are all in their 70s.

I’m going to the O2 to see the show tomorrow, but don’t really know what to expect. I didn’t ‘grow up with Python’. So I’m coming to it fresh. Anyone got any advice for sketches that I can watch on Youtube to give me a flavour of what to expect?

I wouldn't - go 'blind' and I think you'll enjoy it far more smile It's a great show.

How the hell are they going to put it on Gold? They have sodding adverts every 10 minutes.

Went last night and generally enjoyed it. Cleese seemed to take a while to warm up and only really seemed to come alive in "his" sketches. Don't know what others think, but I felt Terry Jones gave the impression of not really wanting to be there, including reading cue cards for some sketches. Can't fault Idle or Palin though, both of whom seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves. Worth the money? Probably not, but it is one of those "I was there" things, and being able to sing along to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" with Eric Idle was worth it smile

The adverts will be synched with the albatross salesperson at the O2.

I caught Python at the tale end of their peak and I loved them.

However, the majority of their work has dated (some sketches I agree are timeless) along with the cast themselves who are known to many for their later offerings.

I could think of nothing worse than sitting through regurgitated examples of all that WAS Python with a little fresh offering.
