I take your point, whilst I quite like the guy he does 'play it up ' too much for me whilst still maintaining his down with the lads alter ego. I hope he does well with the telly stuff as I fear a TT win is beyond him now
Agreed. And even if im not his biggest fan, he does deserve a TT win. Good luck to him but if Michael Dunlop sorts out 2014, McGuiness does his usual, with Brooks, Hutchy, Cummings, and Ansty (on his day) all up for a scrap - its hard to imagine Guy standing on the top step.

True....a lot depends on what Dunlop does in 14. He looked unbeatable this year but i've seen all those years where somone really is in the zone - McCallen , DJ, McGuiness, Hutchy and then Dunlop this year. History will show thats its difficult to do 2 years on the bounce I think. Dunlop, bless him still rides like he stole it which is not always the best course of action on that particular circuit! yikes

All set to be an interesting year.....I agree, Guy deserves one, and has shown he can do it on the NW200 and the likes but it just never seems to click for him on the IOM

That's not quite the point I was making. I cant stand the 'Mr average who prefers to be left alone' persona that is at odds with his actions (flash car, tv shows, etc...).

Why not just drop the 'Im a normal guy who wants to be left alone bullst'? The reality is he is a reasonably successful fan favourite who courts and enjoys the status, lifestyle and fame that it comes with.

As for what he spends his money on - Its not for me to judge, but I think his stuff is cool, nice car, nice bike, cool Lego, etc....
I don't think the two are incompatible. The way I see it, a lot of his fame of late was brought up by TT3D, and after that people have used him for TV shows, but only about things he enjoys doing. It seems he wears what he likes and says what he wants, nothing too scripted. He drives what he likes too.

It's not like he's attending premieres and gala events up and down the country, or hosting a show, reading cards and wearing a suit, then complains about being a celebrity... All IMHO of course.

Exactly. I get the feeling he's pretty down to earth and does what he wants when he wants!

I cant stand him! Defo one not to watch.

He is a character but very false and fake.

He hates the attention and publicity yet courts the TV stations with programme after programme. Turns up late to meetings and expects the world to bow down to him. Spits his dummy when things go wrong.

Just a lorry mechanic - not fussed about the PR, lifestyle and bullst like the others - yet drives a Aston.

I just wish he was honest and dropped the persona!!
Not at all

What you see is what you get

If you were offered the chance to do all the things he has AND get paid for them. What would you do??

btw the Aston is long gone

More Guy Martin BS!

http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--racing-n...

Is there anyone who is been more desperate to win a TT than Guy at the moment? Of all the 'up and coming' riders over the past 5 years he is the highest profile TT contender who has not achieved his goal - then he comes out with this rubbish!

Always talking pure rubbish - who is he fooling, really?

"In the opening episode he’ll team up with Olympic medallist Laura Trott, a bicycle builder, truck racer and design engineer to see if it’s possible to break the British record for outright speed on a bike"

Is it just me or would her and Guy be some insane love match. I hope he boinks her.

I doubt it: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/cycling/...
One look of a TT racer in leathers will see her knickers drop.

Damn, I'll be on holiday when the first episode is aired, and I already have a question that will keep me awake. What's the extra bit of frame at the front for?

Nice project to be involved in I bet!

That's for towing up to a speed where you can turn the pedals, then realease and also to slow it down, by running into back of truck!
Yes and great to be involved with. Great person and character, just as you imagine, the film crew are brilliant too.

Is there no brake on the back wheel?

It's interesting that it's fitted with horizontal handlebars: I'd have thought that traditional racing dropped bars would be the thing for speed cycling.

No, we originally wearn't going to have any as we thought they could burn out at the speeds, but i stuck a brake on to test down Upeer Hulme I got 60mph LOL.

We think these bars a best for mauling a huge gear, aero position not important as he is in a slipstream.

And Thanks smile
