I loved it and as a piece of popcorn entertainment it delivered for me, plus Cruise, Blunt and Paxman were excellent in their roles.

They also got the pacing just right for the 'groundhog' scenarios and there was some humour too.

The ending wasn't that memorable, but in the context of a 'lightweight' hollywood star versus aliens film, it wasn't too bad either.

It all sounds interesting enough until I realised Cruise was the 'lead'.
Ugh, such a twunt, I'm sure he can ruin any film.

Went to see this on Wed, would recommend. Not sure why nobody likes Tom Cruise, he's a decent actor.

agreed..as one of the world's most recognisible, famous blokes, he comes across as pretty decent... (aside from scientology guff, but I haven't seen him push that rubbish at all).
Not many films of his I dislike...and Magnolia is up there as one of the best, full-stop.

Exactly, I can't see what's to dislike about him other than the Scientology thing which is entirely his own choosing and makes no difference to him as an actor. He's been in some bloody awesome films over the years, seems to always have time for his fans, takes all his roles really seriously.

I suppose there was all that Katie Holmes nonsense but never mind.

Sounds like jealousy to me. Probably the same people who hate Will Smith.

Personally I don't like him not because of his beliefs, but because of series of terrible films produced and/or acted by him, starting with him taking the role of Vampire Interview, which intended to be given to excellent Rutger Hauer by the author of the book, and (hopefully) ending with Reacher and Oblivion. I kind of used to him now, he's like an awkward kid in your school class - he's been there for so many years you can't help but feel something for him.

Watched it tonight as it came to the twilight of its airings in Shrewsbury

Enjoyed it more than X-men

Good end to a tiring week

Thought Blunt and Cruise both great in their roles

How comes, after killing the Omega, they went back 2 days in time?

guys, I know it's probably gobbledegook to anyone who hasn't seen the film but still, massive spoilers.

Right! just booked my ticket to see it again tonight. Now that's a recommendation biggrin

Made sure it's 2D this time as well.

BTW what's with this allocated seating bks at CineWorld. I like to enter the theatre and sit as far away from the mouth breathers as possible. Now you have to look at a plan and try to guess which will be the remotest seat.

I understand allocated seats for premieres but when the cinema will be mainly empty, what's the point.

How does that change whether people have seen it or not?

When it's quiet I just sit anywhere. Never sat in someone's seat yet but I suspect most others sit anywhere too!

And how long would you propose leaving everything in spoilers? Until its out on general release, tv?

I tend to avoid threads about films until I've seen them, then I join in. It's harder with the long running series threads, like Game of Thrones, because everyone is on different episodes.

Miss the good old days of only 3 channels and one showing, once a week of any drama and then everyone could talk about it the next day at school/work.

I don't think it should be time dependant, and there's specific forum code for this very purpose

While I agree that the film has been out for a few weeks that doesn't mean everyone that wants to see it has done. It's just polite to spoiler stuff that's been out recently.

This seems to be actually picking up due to word of mouth which is nice to see.
