Yep, pretty good show. Nothing really new in it, but then this type of show tends to be a 50-50 split between the presenters life story, but some interesting cars. American cars/motorsport ain't my thing, but pleased that the next show has Hopkirk, Mini,6R4 and Ari. All in all, well worth catching on the iplayer.

Caught a glimpse of Keiichi Tsuchiya in the preview for tomorrow's episode! That and the Ari segment should be superb.

Or maybe just into actual racing cars and like Damon Hill drives a very low power spec Espace!
Or a Diesel golf which is what he was driving when I "met" him at a petrol station a couple of years back.

Really enjoyed it. A rare pearl among the normal tripe these days. The feminisation of TV continues apace. No Bond film, no war films. Rant rant etc!

Anyway, looking forward to the rallying section tonight.

I was waiting to see what he had in the trailer they were towing about. Given it's size I thought perhaps an Atom or a 7 to mix it up with the US muscle!

Doesn't anyone have an idea? Surely, someone must have leaked it.

Camera kit I imagine.

I thought it was an enjoyable programme - Elba came across as a decent sort of guy. Probably more enthusiastic than knowledgeable, but I guess making stuff like that beats working!

Didn't spot that "The Longest Day" was on either yesterday or the day before then?

I know more about the history of cars, Ford, street racing, Nascar and speed than him and the clowns who made this travesty. Presumably the modern Top Gear crew. and he's just some 'celeb actor, what's he know about cars, why did they pick him?

Ruined my Christmas did this. I'll only be watching the next episode grudgingly as I sip my (genuine - eat your heart out Luther) Kentucky Moonshine Vintage 1921 so I can slag it on here again tonight. irked

Was a bit disappointed by it really. Felt a bit like that James Martin one from last year - a bit novice really.

Still going to watch tonight's. Hopefully the producer's have got him to ask Ari better questions and not - 'how fast have you been'...

Yep - and you aren't the only one with your knowledge on here either. Like all TV programmes it is made for a non enthusiast audience; if it was targetted at OCD people like us they would get a tiny audience. Why pick him ? Because he's famous, good looking and great in front of the camera- hasn't this occurred to you ? Enjoy tonight- I will be drinking something from Tennessee - where I bought it a few weeks ago.

It's about informing those that don't know, rather than further educating those that do.

Precisely.

I am the first to whinge and moan at some tecchie type documentaries. But, this programme, whilst a bit lightweight, was actually pretty much spot on with the history and culture behind the two most iconic forms of American motor racing - drag racing and Nascar.

It didn't get its facts wrong - which to me is the greatest sin a documentary can make.

Did you actually think I was being serious? Look at the context above for my obvious (I'd thought) snarky ness.
