Looking forward to this over Xmas as I think Elba is brilliant, didn't know he was a 'car guy'.

Beeb blurb said:
Idris Elba takes pole position on the grid as he sets off on the drive of his life, in a revelatory, adrenaline-fuelled documentary series about speed and driving fast.

On his journey, Idris charts the colourful origins and secret history of the underground racing scene in the USA – and sets out to examine how boy-racers and our love of speed have shaped the cars we drive today.

Episode one sees him travel from his childhood home in East London to Motorcity in Detroit and on to New Jersey, where he reveals the history of the first boy-racers, and explores how our obsession with driving fast has shaped our professional motorsports and popular culture.

Thanks for the heads up, really looking forward to this. I didn't realise he was a car guy either! Guy of many talents. I didn't know until last year that he was a DJ as well. Plays quite a few gigs in London and was also at Ibiza Rocks.

He did a good show a few months back on the history of house music if you missed it, not sure what it was called.

No idea how I missed that. Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye out for a repeat or see if it reappears on 4OD.

"How Club Music Changed the World" or something like that. It was a 2-part show & was really interesting - especially for people growing up in the late 80s and into the 90s.

He's a very interesting bloke - I'd love to spend a night out with him.

Interesting fact - I thought he was actually American after seeing him play Stringer Bell in The Wirelaugh

Looking forward to this.

Really like this guy. Brilliant in the Wire and the only decent thing in Prometheus.

My sister is friendly with him and I've met him through her while he was DJ'ing in London

He's a nice guy. Very down to earth. So laid back he's horizontal. Smooth fella.

So spill what's in his garage? Is he a classic car man Mk2 Jag or a Dino, 265 GTB 4Cam or modern sort of thing?

Or maybe just into actual racing cars and like Damon Hill drives a very low power spec Espace!
