Brooker Weekly Wipe
Discussion
I think Charlie Brooker is funny even when he is wrong,as he was about the immigrant taking uk jobs item.I work in the building trade and know plenty of east european workers and those who are planning on staying long term are usually fine.I find those only coming to fill a shoebox with fivers and return home will cut corners and bull**** their way through a job in a way anyone trying to build a reputation will not thus undercutting local workers.I dont consider this racist just realistic, lousy workers at all levels keep moving on before they get found out and don't care what they leave behind. We all have a choice, pay a chancer minimum wage to fix your car/house/mind your kids or pay someone with years of checkable work history what they are worth.
European workers are ok,but the best ones are making a good living in their home town because they wont walk away from their good name.
I look forward to seeing more foreign tv presenters, journalists on the BBC (maybe with a cut in tv licence) and lets see how stupid and paranoid us blue collar types are.

I was always led to believe that Al Campbell (Barry stpeas) and Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk) were his co-writers and had developed their alter egos to break the show up a little bit. Not so keen on Cunk's fake-interviews (a poor man's version of Comedy Central's Daily Show/Colbert Report inserts) but the talking head pieces are usually worth a chuckle.

I agree, I find the 'talking head' pieces vastly more enjoyable than the 'mericun, it's a TV-staple that's ripe for the ripping and I think they do it very well.I also agree that the longer 'Cunk' pieces don't work that well.
I'm not sure I can take 30 minutes of Brooker full on though, he comes over as rather self-satisfied at times and I know I'd want to kick his head in by the end of 30 minutes non-stop.

Yet another Lefty rant about how immigrants/scumbags are portrayed badly.
It's a shame there's not a Right Wing TV channel for people to rant about how anybody out of work/an immigrant are scum, isn't it?OK, you get the odd PPB, but it's not the same as a dedicated channel...

This used to be good when he did it 5/6 years ago, now its a flabby imitation of itself. I gave up after ep 1 of this series.
How do you know if you 'gave up.'Wasn't the best this week but a few chuckles. Bit about the French was was good.
Seems all Doug stanhopes stuff is on YouTube. Could try and guess what's on next.

All I'm saying is that its been a few years since Brooker's show was really really good.
