I'm not getting into this at all (despite my best intentions). Slow is okay, glacial is something else.

Season 2 teaser trailer has just been released. I've seen it on Facebook, but can't find a YouTube link to post here. Looks good and Rachel Mcadams is as lovely as usual cloud9

June 21st apparently

Even with Colin Farrell it looks promising.

Is this going to be longer than 8 episodes?

Just finished watching Gomorrah, it was indeed pretty good.
Those hamsters were brutal smile

If you liked it I recommend the slightly superior Romanzo Criminale, 70s fashion and cars too

Hmm I know it's only a trailer but I fear this won't be a patch on the first

Director track record is dodgy
Farrell looks the part, Vaughn looks ok in the trailer, actor I don't recognise with short dark hair looks hammy
Why do we need an attractive female character?

Fingers crossed they haven't fked it up or Hollywooded it

Is Vaughan the bad guy? He was okay as a villain in that film with Travolta

I'm going to reserve judgement on the cast until the season is over. I never bothered with season one because MM was in it and he turned out to be the highlight of the show.

He lost a ton of weight for Dallas Buyers Club so I presume TD was filmed around the same time?

Does it need to be?
I'd say the length of the first season was very well judged.

Sure sometimes 24 episodes are needed (rarely) but the 8/10/13 whatever shorter ones are great.

I think season 1 could have done with 1 r maybe 2 extra episodes. The way they came to the conclusion who the killer was in the later episodes was laughable.

Yep that looks smart to me! Looking forward to it again.

(Didn't realise McConaughey was in it again JOKING)

Just picking up on the point further up I can't abide 24 episode season shows on the so-called 'Network channels' (NBC, ABC, CBS etc.) any more. Aside from the odd one like The Mentalist, Hawaii Five-0 etc. I haven't picked up much new on these channels for ages.

Watching shorter but (IMO) higher quality shows on premium/cable such as True Detective, Fargo, True Blood, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Sons of Anarchy etc. has really been the way forward in recent years.

For my own tastes, I think that all series that last over 15 episodes are ste.

House? I enjoy it but it's hardly riveting; patient has weird symptoms and getting worse. Is it Lupus? My leg is sore, grr.

Oh yes. The only thing that really connects them is the style/ambience.
Whilst the film is brilliant, I actsully enjoyed the series more. Some absolutely outstanding performances.

ste is a bit strong. There's some good popcorn entertainment that runs longer seasons

Agents of Shield, Arrow, Grimm and Hawaii 5 O are all watchable and far from ste.

Yeah OK< it's a bit strong and not actually accurate. biggrin
I guess I split shows between shows I watch over my laptop, and shows I need to actually view.
Most series of around 10 episodes are serial dramas where you need to view the stuff that goes on, because it's all/mostly important. Most series over 15 are procedurals, where you can drop in/drop out, miss a few episodes and it doesn't really matter, you can still understand what's going on in 2 minutes of watching.
The vast majority if USA shows are procedurals. So while they are not in fact...ste! biggrin They are just not my cup of tea because I find them tedious and boring for the most part. biggrin
There are a few hybrids out there, but I prefer the solid serial dramas which by necessity run to a much shorter length. I love that engagement.

No way! It's the perfect show for a Sunday evening to switch my brain off before I go to bed.
