I really wish I could like this programme - I've had 3 goes at the first series and it just doesn't grab me.

Series 2 worth a go without seeing the first one?

Series 2 is completely unrelated to Series 1.

Yep! I was thinking GTA5.

One of the shots at the end, when they find the body, reminded me of the area in the game way outside the city and you can see the lights along the coast in the distance.
If you ever get the chance to drive around LA for a while, it's a surreal experience.

I did it the other way around, and whenever I played GTA5 got deja-vu. I knew where to drive, and the landmarks and roads were all where they should be, sometimes even down to a small level.

Of course, the game map and the viewable details are condensed, but as you remember the landmarks, everything seems real, and is almost a blur on reality.

Like this for example:

Love the Nick Cave track on the end credits. Does anyone know if it is on an album somewhere?

Loved the Rockford reference.

I'm starting to get the names now. I need to watch the last scene of ep 1 again, I didn't understand the ire of the other sherif.

Just started this yesterday...it took a few scenes to get me locked on. I am looking forward to episode 2 after the obligatory character introduction first episode.

Watched episode 2 now and struggling to get past the feeling that's it's just basically a formulaic The Wire/The Shield clone but more dark/broody, humourless and with no likeable characters whatsoever.

Hoping it will pick up after the conclusion to EP2 but at the moment it's far from the 'must watch' TV the first season was for me.

I missed that.

Not getting into this series like I did the last. Farrell and McAdams just don't compare to Harrelson and McC and why is Kitsch even in it?.

I'm a newcomer to it. Just one ep6 of season 1 but the pace has picked up and it is thoroughly engrossing - thinking this could finally top The Wire.

In the car, VInce's character refers to Farrell's character as 'pull a Rockford.' biggrin

Rockford as in Rockford Files?. Nope, colour me dense, I still don't get it.

To be honest though I wasn't paying 100% attention, it just didn't grab me.

Yeah, famous LA detective, the Columbo of the region. biggrin

I too admit...erm, it's not as gripping as the first, but then it's a wholly different scenario.
Farrell...is quite watchable, as is Vaughn...the girl I'm willing to give a shot, but that 'I'm so gay no actually I'm not gay' fella is a waste of time, and utterly devoid of watchability.

The story does seem to be heading classic noir so we shall see.

So far Vaughn is the most watchable. McAdams is lovely to look at (and thankfully wears her gun properly), but the character just seems too deep for sake of being deep.

How gorgeous is that scarface waitress?. Not even that massive gash across her face diminishes her beauty.

Just finished the first two. Completely different so trying to put season 1 at the back of mind.

Last scene was a bit of a shocker. Not sure that was survivable.
