Outrageously good show. Are there any other people here who have basically become HBO snobs like myself? HBO shows just st on everything else IMO.

Caught up with the first 4 epsidoes over the weekend. Outstanding TV.

Who needs films when this sort of program is available? It's the first program in a long that I've watched completely engrossed. Normally I have iPad in hand but this required my full attention.

How are you guys getting True Detective - whole of season 1? I understood that Netflix wasn't showing it and Sky Atlantic only has season 1 / ep 1

Or are you Stateside?

TIA

Moi....though having said that, and after being devotee after the Sky Atlantic creation I have come to see that not all of HBO's stuff glitters so sparkily...but so much of it is just soooooo good. There are current productions that can rival HBO's product. HBO just makes so much though!
Makes me wonder about the future of the Beeb...

Still not seen this show, and I will be watching the UK schedule.

Right then. Do we organise this thread as per others re: UK shows/internetz spoilers or leave it open? Difficult one as people are up to E5 now from the states I believe. If it's an open thread I won't be reading it again that's all! smile

Same here. My wife and I watched the first episode on Saturday night, and we loved it, but we'll be sticking to the UK schedule.

PLEASE USE SPOILERS

I'm watching in the US "real time" but I won't post anything that would spoil it for others.

Going to throw this one out there.

I think the show is superb and it's been interesting to see many reviewers mainly compairing to 'The Wire' as possibly the best TV series ever made.

However, what I find lacking, and odd, is that 'Band of Brothers' hasn't had a mention or not one that I've seen at least.

BoB was the first of it's kind in my book - basically a brilliantly crafted 'film' (of true Hollywood standard) broken down into episodes.

BoB is very good but it's not as good as The Wire or The Sopranos. I know what you are saying but IMO why compare to top 5 rather than number 1

Apparently after this season, next season will have a cast of new characters and storyline.

From wiki: The series will use an anthology format, with each season featuring a different cast of characters and story.

Just watched the first episode and i'm completely hooked. I found it compelling viewing and i'm looking forward to the next one. Matthew McConaughey is one of my favourite actors and in that first episode he was fabulous.
