Watched the last one earlier tonight, was a bit miffed at the ending but after an hour or so digesting it I really like it.

Caught up on S3 tonight, I think it’s just fantastic so far. Every bit as good as I remember S1 being when we first watched it.

Can’t wait for Sunday.

The demetia he’s suffering now must be going to play a part I think, not just a way to weave the narrative over the decades
Too easy wink

I watched the finale last night and had some time to digest it.

They are definitely trying to put you in the minds of the two leads, which they did very well imo and also very deliberately trying not to end it the same as SE01.

That said, final scene with him in the jungle, pants. Penultimate scene in the bar, also pants.

Did anyone else feel the black detectives wife was just annoying throughout the entire bloody thing? She almost felt like an after thought to pad out the episodes and the plot, but I don't think it worked all that well.

I still stand by what I was initially feeling into EP03 - they moved timelines far too often which reduced tension. EP07 was the best of the bunch imo and although it was decent as a stand alone series, I think Fargo is far superior in delivering gripping drama across the board.

Did enjoy almost all the scenes between the two lead detectives though. Great casting there.

Need to go and watch season 1 again now. biggrin

I loved Fargo S2, automatic rewatch when it's on. I will not be bothering with S3 again.
S1 was OK, if it was on again, I'd give it a shot.
I rewatched TDs1 before this series...it's just amongst the best that HBO has done, and that's tough competition

Can’t argue with you there, among the tough competition, would be “The Wire”, and although I’m unsure if it was HBO, “Homicide, Life on the Street”, also set in gritty Baltimore MD.

Homicide was by NBC and was based on David Simon's book "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets", which I have next to me right now funnily enough. He was a reporter at the Baltimore Sun newspaper at the time.

The book & Simon's experiences also inspired "The Wire", which he was heavily involved with.

Agreed. There was just so much right about the first season. Properly gripping stuff.

I'm a massive Sopranos fan boy so it can't take the top spot for me but a close 2nd.

If you haven't seen it yet, I'd watch Sharp Objects on HBO. Superb mini-series - perhaps the true spiritual successor to TD1.

Looks like Sky have removed it from their planner. It is available for £1.99/episode on YouTube.

Yeah, SO is very well paced, acted, scripted, edited. That same, cold case mixed in with new case, just what is going on/went on vibe with some Souther Gothic. It's very good.

Sky trailering (is that a word?) a new series, set in the Alaskan winter, with Jodie Foster.

Can only hope it’s half as good as TD1.

Even half as good as Season 1 is a bloody high bar. I can't think of another season of TV that's got close to that recently. Westworld S1 maybe .

Will give this a go though.

The first series was superb. Wasn't so impressed with the other two.

This one doesn't grab me, but I'm hopefully wrong.

TD1 is the best TV series of its kind ever made. Utterly superb in every way.

For me, 2 was as bad an 1 was good, and 3 was bearable.

I’ll hold off 4 until all episodes are available.
