Agree.
JC is my age and that rhyme was frequently sung (with the N word) without shame by me when I was a kid. If I sang it now, it's so ingrained from when I was a child, I would have to pause, as JC did, to mentally block the word. I'm not a racist and nor is JC.
Funny that the BBC had child abusers running around the studios, but a word that wasn't actually said causes such a stir.
Same here - I am a little younger at 47, but everyone used to sing these things at school (along with hymns at morning assembly). At that point in time, the '70's, it seems that half of the BBC celebs were busy touching up kids my age......

I'm guessing someone at Sky is busy furiously scribbling down an offer of a contract for him right now.
That's what I was thinking.Seeing as this latest thing is something that was filmed and not aired how many years ago and comes from some insider leak it really is just a matter of time.
Based on their twitter support presumably May and Hammond would walk. Unless there is some hideous clause in their contracts personally I would expect that.
BBC on self destruct.

What an absolutely agenda-laden storm in a teacup this has been.
On reflection, "Eeeny meeny miney mo" was a poor choice of rhyme. However, it's clear from the context that he did his utmost *not* to say the word.

I had to remember to say Tigger when my kids were growing up.

I hope Jezza isn't engineering his departure from the Beeb in order to take the Murdoch shilling. For all its flaws, Top Gear is still one of the most entertaining 60 minutes of television there is.
Not so sure these days. I know that with the last series, I could take it or leave it...jbudgie said:

Agreed.
But have the upper echelons of BBC management (see W1A for absolutely detailed details ok? Cool.) made the mistake of thinking Clarkson is a product of Top Gear, where we all know it's the other way around?Agreed.
Or are they assuming and accepting that the end of Clarkson heralds the end of TG?

Someone, may possibly, at a stretch, point out just how much revenue the show brings to the BBC coffers. Possibly. Outside chance.
I think they will still think, 'so what?'
It's not the way they think.
What the general public forget especially the chattering classes is that Top Gear is one of the two top earning exports fro the BBC, globally bringing in over £100 million a year in fees. Without Clarkson et al.....many hundreds of faceless civil servants will lose their jobs. None of the BBC nor the lame politicians have the courage nor business sense to find that money elsewhere. Time the BBC was sold off, floated or forced to go commercial in regard to television. Their downfall will be the Iplayer and the onslaught of digital offerings within 3-4 years.
