I'm three episodes in and enjoying it. I think American Horror Story was the last horror serial drama, and that went downhill rapidly in the third series.

I hope this one works.

Saying that, Penny Dreadful is decent too.

Read the books a couple of years ago. I'm 6 episodes in, and so far, I'm liking the TV adaptation a lot. Big thumbs up from me.

Up to date with the US episodes on this, and whilst watchable it's a pretty average affair which steals all of it's ideas from elsewhere.

And to the poster above who suggests Elementary is a better show than Sherlock.

I was liking it as far as Ep7, and getting more into it with Ep7.

Eps 8-12 are fillers. Ep13 doesn't even have me interested in watching the next series. Ah well.

Got to agree. One very thin idea stretched across far too many episodes.

Yeah, I agree about 8-12, too.
For me, the basic vampires are just not scary/threatening enough. The scene where they were attacked on the garage forecourt was ridiculous - like a bad episode of the walking dead, topped by that girl just running past them all rolleyes

I'm kind of intrigued about the "vampire war" story arc, so I'll probably continue next season...

Well that was ace.
Loved the final few episodes.
Intrigued by the second lot of vamps, they are slightly different.
Also intrigued as to why the big one survived, though I have my opinions. biggrin

He survived because they have presumably commissioned a second season.

Oh my good Lord, it looks stunning. Such atmosphere and Mia - I love pretty much everything she's been in!

The US broadcasts are currently on episode 6 or 7. Still ranks as one of my 'must watch' shows.

It promised a lot in the first few episodes of season 1, but quickly failed to deliver and ended up like a bad 80s zombie movie. Don't really see where a second season can take us. The good zombies have already saved the day.

I don't think that anyone saved the day in season 1?

Having read the books I at least know where the story is going, the show isn't a direct translation of the books but it still follows most of the plot. Season 2 pushes into the plot of 'The Fall' (book 2), and I'd assume we end up having 'The Night Eternal' as Season 3.

I’ve been watching these as they come out in the US. They’ll potentially stretch this out a few seasons I suspect (if they can/remain popular enough). We’re not passed the first book yet.

I like it, it’s by no means perfect but looks pretty decent for TV. What confuses me is that it’s generally excepted these things exist so why haven’t the army gone in? The cops are going round trying to exterminate them at the moment.

Same! Very intrigued by the rival faction.

Currently watching the last few eps of S1, they're being repeated.

I'm really enjoying this, but there is a moment in the most recent (from the US) episode that is right up there for the worst execution of special effects ever.

You'll know it when you see it biglaugh

Talking about the roof coming down by any chance?! I like the Quinlan character, essentially Del Torro has just rehashed Blade 2!

I read the books when they came out a few years ago - quite enjoyed them although the eventual ending irritated me immensely (I won't say why to avoid spoilers).

I knew it was going to be made into a TV show (movie, I thought) but I hadn't realised it had come out. What is Watch TV? Is it a Sky only channel?
