Bloody hell, another one!? Why do people keep giving Michael Bay money for this st?
All three previous films have been hugely profitable so why wouldn't they? This is going to be a kind of second trilogy, Shia Le Berf out, Mark Wahlberg in, which should improve things. Still big robots, but now with robot dinosaurs, which makes this awesome to your inner nine year old. There's a plot in there somewhere, but hey, robots, explosions, yay!

This. This film will be ace no matter what now. Happy days.
I watch transformers movies to go wow and the massive destruction and laugh at the sillyness.
Let's get this down here... Optimus Prime... with a sword and shield... riding the back of a frankly HUGE Dinbot T-Rex?
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY MICHAEL BAY!

All three previous films have been hugely profitable so why wouldn't they?I saw some of the second Transformers film and it just made me wonder how many good films weren't being made because most of the money available gets thrown at this turgid dross.
The mainstream film industry has got itself stuck in this dumb profit cycle, where they have to churn out this shameless cack beause it's the only way of making enough profit to support... the next one.
The same thing is happening to other industries (gaming in particular). Computer games in the 80s and 90s were full of diversity, imagination and creativity. Mobile gaming should be there now. It's a new medium absolutely brimming with potential with devices capable of huge performance, so we should be in a golden phase of gaming.
Instead, the industry has gone straight for the money and we have to trudge through adverts, scams, credits and in-game payments at the hope of finding some gameplay in there, somewhere.
The sooner people stop paying to see this crap the better for all of us.
That was an unexpected rant

You may think they're cack but the box office figures suggest there are an awful lot of people out there who think they aren't. Also, how many other films have been given the green light thanks to the huge profits these films make?

they noticeably changed style for the 3rd one.
Did they? I must have missed that because all I saw was terrible writing, awful attempts at humour, fight scenes where you can't work out what was going on, a lead actress who would give the worst performance in a school nativity play, bloated length and Megatron going out like a complete bh yet again. Admittedly there was a lower amount of gobsmacking racism, so that's something I guessNegative Creep said:

Yeah mainly the lack of racism and sans giant robo testicles. This was a big change for bay lol.Tbf megaton always went out like a bh bar the original animated movie. Tbf it's 2 hours of shouting n giant robots. I expect no more.

"This st" is what Michael Bay does. Things blow up, things get smashed.

The problem isn't that it's pretty much just action. It's that Michael Bay has long since "lost it" when it comes to actual structuring of the action. It's just a bunch of random shots of stuff exploding. Nobody expects Citizen Kane or anything out of it, but compare it to his earlier stuff like The Rock and Bad Boys; they have the crazy level of action but it's all structured in a way that makes sense, they have simplistic plots and characterisation that work effectively, etc.
Compare these two:
The "'you just trashed your Ferrari!' 'it's not mine'" chase from The Rock.

It's built up logically out of cause and effect and it has a reasonable spacial awareness to it - the cars go from one location to another.

Oh, they're running in the middle of a huge building. Then there's some transformers on the other side of the room from each other shooting. Now they're punching each other. Now shooting each other and falling out the wall. Now the people running around the building are in the truck and the Camaro. Now everything is suddenly happening in a forest and the Camaro has been left behind, but there's been nothing to show this having happened. It contains all the consistency of the Old Spice "the tickets are now diamonds" ad and as a result isn't satisfying no matter how big the explosions.
Michael Bay films should be a cinematic burger and fries, but lately it's like he's just poured a bag of sugar on a plate.
