Wow, more:

Robots from a distant planet changing from everyday objects you will only find on Earth into robots that happen to look like humans

Good robots that are smaller than the bad robots but will undoubtedly win anyway

Doom mongering artifacts that if placed in the hands of the bad robots will spell the end of everything in he universe (you know that small place always at the mercy of various doom mongering artifacts)

Bad robots that when they find a doom mongering artifact still can't seem to make it work

Male leads that in spite of looking quite good act like a dweeb

Super hot supporting female that once she finds out the truth about the changing robots falls instantly in love with said dweeb

Quirky supporting cast that often get in the way of the good robots

Hard hitting army dudes that have useless weapons but still manage to make a difference

A plot that involves a bad robot being awakened at some point

Lots of 'Terminator' type music

Sound familiar?

One of the best films ever.

I cry every time Optimus dies :-( even now. I must get it on blu-ray.

Dinobots in the new film is a good start but please Bay stick in Unicron, kill Megatron, rebuild him as Galvatron and get Nimoy to voice him. Oh and bonus points for Eric Idle and the junk bots. Just remake the animated movie! Its fantastic.

This bd thread has enlightened me to the remastered stupidly expensive blu-ray of the animated movie, and also lightened my wallet.

I can't find a couple of the Devastator components but must be somewhere.

They individuals were:

Scrapper,
Mixmaster,
Longhaul,
Hook,
Scavenger and
Bonecrusher.

Have you seen the 3rd party Constructicons? They are £45+ each and look fantastic.

I always wanted Metroplex - I clearly remember his first appearance in the comics...was just awesome!

We managed to get most of the combiners but not the constructicons dammit. We have still got the seacons though which were pretty rare!

When the Seacons and Pretenders came out, that's when TF went downhill I personally feel. I have the original Metroplex in the attic. I managed to get the Predacons which were unavailable in the UK.

st, you had the Seacons and the Predacons!
Loved the stories Predaking was in, like when he had to kill Megatron.
One of the earliest stories about Devastaor was a UK story in a US Demolition Derby, the artwork was fantastic and made the US stuff look drab.

Saw a vid on youtube which listed lots of combiner teams, hadn't heard of most of them, I think a lot were crappy Japanese only ones, but the 'proper' ones from the comics;
  • Constructacons
  • Predacons
  • Aerialbots
  • Stuntacons
  • Combaticons
  • the ones that made Defensor...all the emergency vehicles
  • Seacons...only used in the UK story when Galavatron comes back?
  • The ones that made Computron?
Autobots were a little light on combiner teams I think.

i remember seeing a predacon on sale when on holiday in France as a kid and desperately wanted it. As i recall though, they were much bigger individually than the UK combiners (like the ones Halb listed - i think it was the protectobots by the way) - is that right? and did they still combine into something which must have been huge if so.

Agree re; Seacons...though it was when headmasters etc came out i really lost interest

I remember those comics vividly and Devastation Derby was one of my favourite stories ever.

I can't remember if I ever had the Seacons but I am going through the original toys I had which so far has turned up many broken figures frown I did manage to find a load of techspecs, instructions and leaflets to show what other figures were available.

I had all the above combiners when I was a kid except The Predacons as I got them within the last 7 years or so just to have them. The Technobots formed Computron if memory serves me correctly.

I was surprised just how big the Predacons were. Really like how colourful they are.

I admit that I liked the Headmasters/Powermasters/Targetmasters. It was a new take on things and introduced Nebulos.

The seacons were reissued a while back, and can still be had on Amazon Marketplace.

Generations Metroplex is still available a plenty at Toys R Us, and is pretty chunky and cool.
