I wish they'd shown some of the gearbox reassembly. Maybe they need an extended edition ...
Me too! The editing seemed too harsh for the mechanical/technical bits. the new series does seem a lot slicker than previous shows, but I still think there needs to be a little more 'meat' in the middle, (Cut down the beginning and end segments to 5 minutes each!)Nimby said:

I've just seen the episode and was about to post the same comment. I think they should have shown it in a Benny Hill speeded-up sort of way.I liked the short-shift modification, but I was a bit confused as the gearbox was off being repaired at the time . Edd has redeemed himself for the Capri paint job with the black trim, but I thought there may have been a black paint mark left on the door.
Back to how it used to be. Keep up the good work.

That FSO they did last series was probably my all time favorite WD car.
That was my least favourite, and the only time I've ever not bothered watching to the end to see how the car turned out. I couldn't care less.Faust66 said:
That said, I can't wait for the Maserati later this series.
Yes, really looking forward to this one.Lordbenny said:

I liked it, I too had an XR2 back in the day. What happened to Ed's buddy (was he called Paul ?), has he been replaced by Philip ?
I went for a test drive in the Maserati 3200 with him 2 weeks ago, he's, basically, the main mechanic at Wheeler Dealers.(Was he fired for never cracking a smile?)
The XR2 has a new owner, he has just introduced himself over on the XROC.
The damaged to the front of the car was caused on the "test drive" when it ran into the back of the camera car! If you are quick you will see no damage in the original advert, then damage when Mike Brewer turns up, they had no option but to buy the car really, it was a bit more than was indicated in the programme though.
The guys from the XROC were looked after well during the days filming, and everyone had a good day out.

No he's still there on the production side. Met the fella and is 100% petrolhead(Was he fired for never cracking a smile?)
Was there a veiled, or maybe not so veiled, dig at Top Gear in the show?
When Mike first spoke to Ed outside the workshop about the gearbox he said;
"When you find top gear it sounds all whiney"
Or, am I being too much of a typical Daily Mail reader and putting far too much emphasis on a throwaway comment

LOL, I'd not noticed that! The guys from the XROC were looked after well during the days filming, and everyone had a good day out.
It makes the viewing of the car amusing, Mike says "I notice it's had a slight bit of damage to the front" and Abby says "It's had a bit of a rough time...."
How interesting with the bumper damage - she should have stuck to her price then! haha
Liked how they took the gearbox apart, sound the spraying a bit rough but the chat with the Ford guy was very interesting.
All in all, a good techy car programme with just enough light hearted humour.
