Wheeler Dealers 2014/2015 - New Series
Discussion
Looks like they couldn't even sell it on the Pacer forum...

Pacer looked bloody awful. Interior was ok but the wrap & wheels terrible. I do wish they'd do some more European cars. Used to love wheeler dealers but the last few series have been a bit poor. The bmw 2002 was good last wk. there's one of those local to me that I always like admiring.

The other posts by "attaboy" show stuff they didn't do on the program. The date of the posts indicates how close to broadcast they were when they were still working on the car.

You can just so tell that Mike himself wrote that forum post - it contains just about every one of his clichés (except "'old out yer 'and").The other posts by "attaboy" show stuff they didn't do on the program. The date of post also explains the shocking edit - this episode was clearly rushed to have it ready for the broadcast date!

He's Mike Curtis. As I recall he talks a bit strangely because most of his face was paralysed following a horrific car accident in which Boyd's son was behind the wheel. Boyd sacked him because he was working on the side designing wheels for Chip Foose.
IIRC not so much paralysed as broke just about every bone in his face. Got home from work last night and put on the TV. They were showing the RX7 episode. What a truly awful job they made of that car with it's snakeskin vinyl and wheels. You would think now they've learnt their lesson with vinyl wraps after having had three lemons in the programmes now.

that programme proved to me why I prefer original Cars because they destroyed that one.Emeye said:

I though there might be a thread, but I was asking from the point of view of a wheeler dealer fan.Controversial statement ahoy... I thought it looked awesome esp under neon lights. Not so much in the day!
Quite like the thought of a similar wrap job on a more modern car. If anything, I'd have liked them to have gone further with the "1970's futuristic" look, the inside could have done with some Buck Rogers style technology.
Not much in way of mechanical amendments so best treated as a fun, half-hearted attempt at Overhaulin'.

needs to be driven in Iceland for 6 months of the year to really appreciate it I guess lolQuite like the thought of a similar wrap job on a more modern car. I've just watched the AMC Pacer episode and it wasn't as terrible as I was expecting. Pity Edd ruined yet another vehicle with that terrible covering idea. He doesn't seem to learn either.
American Hot Rod.

Boyd sacked him because he was working on the side designing wheels for Chip Foose.I saw Charlie from American Hotrod on an episode of Chasing Classic Cars the other day. He was running his own garage in Idaho of all places. Wayne Carini bought a couple of ex-Boyd hotrods from him.
IIRC Charlie left Boyd to work for Chip Foose as well.

I agree - not too bad really. Essentially what they did was take an awful car & make it perhaps marginally less awful. At least it had a certain fun factor injected into it.Seen far worse WD crimes like the yellow taxi cab thing, early efforts like the rattle can Capri & as I mentioned the rape that was performed on the 944 Turbo.
$5.5k for a reflective wrap. Madness. If they had insisted on a wrap then I would have gone with a Matt black.
A few other things fixed but not mentioned (ie the door handle). And the interior was pointless (I thought it looked ok once he sprayed it).
I knew I recognised that other Mike from somewhere!
