Shame they bottled out of the triple twin-choke Webers though.

That was a much better episode than last week's in my opinion. The camshaft welding/grinding was something they haven't done before.

I awlays wondered how much more they paid to get the bloke to sell his car whilst making a of himself.
Didn't someone from here buy the Mustang they did?
I think he got £500 for appearing on the show

An enjoyable episode unlike last weeks which was a massive fail.

I really like the style Mile has in negotiating his first offer is nearly 40% less than asking price. Seriously how does he get away with that I try to negotiate but frankly wouldn't dream of offering £6k on a private sale for a car up at £10k.
Mike's style pisses me right off - makes all the other "Mike-wannabes" try it as well... "go on, 'av a deal - you've got it up for £15k, I'll take it off yer 'ands today for £10k. CASH!" No, I won't "'ve a fkin' deal" - it's up at £15k and there may be a TINY bit of wiggle (£500ish) that's your lot otherwise you've wasted your journey and my time. frown

I've stopped watching the buying and selling bit completely, because we know it is all completely fabricated.

I watch very little of the Mike parts at all, only when he does something interesting like the cam repair and regrind last night. That combined with the adverts means I can watch an hours program in 30 mins.

Win.

Good episode last night.

Not really a complaint but more of a what was the point in staging a fake couple and their dog? The bit where they are outside in armchairs and one of them throws a tennis ball at the car (which the dog then chases into the road) as Mike drove past?

Is this to imply that you will create so much attention in the 240z people will throw stuff at you so be ready or is this some insight into what is normal over in the USA?

It's unnecessary overproduction. I understand the need for the show to be entertainment focused and it should be taken with a pinch of salt, but I'd rather see more of Ed working on the car or even Mike out and about at a third party specialist over some made up scene which adds nothing.

Where Wheeler Dealers succeeds best is the albeit mild sensation of doing up/uprating a used car without actually having to do the work or spend any money yourself. I think even to the casual viewer they enjoy this sense of satisfaction over any fictional scenes added for entertainment or the made up "trying to make a profit" which generally leads to the annoying bits of the show.

Exactly the same here!! Been doing it for such a long time, I can't remember what Mike sounds like!!

Has he got a new catchphrase then? Something about holding your hand out?

Maybe they should include a throw something random at Mike scene in every episode. If you hit Mike or the car it's yours. I just didn't see what it was trying to convey and wonder at what point the producer thought "you know what this episode is lacking? - tennis balls!" and it's a shame that this makes the cut rather than more of fixing up the car.

Well I missed this bit for some reason. I must pay more attention next episode . I don't think I could live with myself if I missed something as exciting as this again.

See the PC brigade has made it to PH then.
Newsflash men are attracted to women (still) and do silly things when they see an attractive women.
you can tell the people on here that have never worked on a building site or factory.
Might I suggest if people find their behaviour abhorent then why not pop along to the building site and just explain how what they are doing is offensive to women and not very PC I am sure the lads will thankyou for helping them see how their terrible action of whistling at a women was so disgusting and so 1970's.
Err....wrong thread.

Me too. I watch the first minute to find out what car he's looking for then ffwd until just after the first break when he gives the car to Edd. After that I pretty much ffwd all of Mike and just watch Edd.

I wonder what percentage of the viewership does the same.

Yup, same here. All I want to know from the Mike bits are
  • What is the car? (found out in first couple of minutes)
  • What are the major faults? (found out after the first advert break when he hands the car over to Edd)
  • What was the purchase price and what did you spend? (found out in the breakdown summary near the end)
  • What do you claim you sold it for? (found out in the last minute or so)
Apart from that, it's FFWD city for Mike.

I really enjoyed last nights episode, apart from one bit. Mike just happened to go to a random car show, just so happened to ask the right person if they'd seen a car, they had, he finds the car that's 'over that way', and the seller is selling it in the right price bracket.

Ok then.

I'm starting to think I'm the only one that watches it all. laugh
I dont mind Mikes bits, I'd rather watch him looking round a car, going on a roadtest then making a deal than any yank drama crap.
Okay a lot of it is scripted but I still find it interesting.whistle

Having written what I did, I actually watched and enjoyed the 'Mike bit' on the Datsun 240Z episode. Finding the seller at the car meet was painfully stage-managed though.

I really liked it. A beautiful car from every angle.

I liked the way Edd said "I'll just need to retune it after the new cam and exhaust was fitted". That's not a DIY job. Rolling road and new needle profiles required if done properly. Maybe different advance weights required for distributor. Remapping an ECU is so much easier - but a lot less fun smile.

I'd really like to see an extras programme for the saddos like me who wouldn't be bored by seeing the cam profile comparison charts smile.

Cam reprofiling is something I've always thought about doing, but because it's not a DIY thing, I've steered clear.

I was out on Castle Combe a few years ago and there was an absolutely fantastic 280Z there. Serious work done on it - it had a cage and race seats, suspension, different wheels and tyres, and god knows what under the engine but I simply couldn't stay with it, and I was in a decidedly non-standard Corrado VR6. I wish I'd taken some photos of it because it was really rather special.
